In school, Katrina hosted a Chinese exchange student, was an exchange student to China herself, attended a conference in Washington, DC, headed by Michelle Obama (whom Katrina met), and started the Medfield High School Chinese Club, of which she is the current President. She has taught Mandarin Chinese to youngsters at the Medfield Memorial Library. She regularly tutored an immigrant middle school student, and she also assisted a special needs student’s attendance at the Special Olympics.

Katrina has also actively volunteered in the town’s civic life:

  • She attends the town’s Downtown Study Committee meetings,

  • She has been active in local political campaigns, on both the state and local levels, manning phones and holding signs.

  • She put together a volunteer team of MHS students and was the MHS team leader for a recent congressional candidate.

  • She is working to register her fellow MHS students to vote.
  • Katrina is active in the Medfield Youth Action Committee, and volunteers on weekends at The Zullo Gallery. Her own art work has been displayed at The Artist's Studio and Gallery at Patriot Place.
