Honan: MHS Student Art Show

Editor's note: The following article was written by Christian Honan, a Medfield High School student and member of the student newspaper, "The Kingsbury Chronicle." Honan's piece is part of Medfield Patch's weekly series, "Warrior Weekly."

During the week of May 7-11, the MHS Art Department displayed student work created throughout the school year at Medfield High School.  The art show was located in the main lobby, on the balcony right above the stairs, and in the senior lounge, which overlooks the main entrance to the school.

Every art class had work represented in the show, from Intro to Art to Advanced Placement Art.  The only requirement for presentation was the student must have created the piece during this school year.

Each class had its own little section where the works were displayed.  The whole show was set up by the MHS art teachers Ms. Kate Jones, Ms. Meg Drew, and Mrs. Mary Shiff.

Students had the chance to view their peers’ work and comment on the art throughout the week.

Senior Paul Wagenseller said, “It’s exciting to know what students are capable of.”

Freshman Bryce Worthey was impressed by what the students could produce, and junior Nicole Alban states that she “liked to see the talent of my peers.”

The purpose of the art show was “to exhibit students’ efforts throughout the year and to appreciate their strong skills and imaginative concepts of MHS students,” said art teacher Ms. Meg Drew.

The student work was presented in a strong manner by the MHS faculty and well received by MHS students during the school week.
