Workshop on the Asian Longhorned Beetle at Rocky Woods Reservation

The Trustees of Reservations is hosting a workshop on the Asian Longhorned Beetle at Rocky Woods Reservation in Medfield MA September 18th from 10 am to 12:30 pm.

With 30,000 trees lost to Asian Longhorned Beetle in Worcester since 2008, and a smaller satellite infestation discovered in Boston this past summer, now is the time to act to stop the spread of this terrible invasive pest! Keep our hardwood forests safe by learning how to recognize ALB, the tree damage it causes, and what you can do to help keep it in check! This will be a PowerPoint presentation followed by a tree survey.

This will be presented by Stacy Kilb, the Asian Longhorned Beetle Outreach Coordinator for the Mass. Dept. of Agricultural Resources. In addition to presenting workshops on ALB throughout the state, Stacy is currently using her extensive background in education to develop curricula on invasive forest pests for K-12 students, and to develop Spanish language versions of existing ALB outreach materials. Before working for MDAR, Stacy worked as a DCR Park Interpreter, and received her Master of Education from Suffolk University.
