Dale Street Hosts 'Friendly Feud' at this Year's Family Fun Night

Dale Street fourth and fifth graders (and some siblings) faced off against each other in a Family-Feud-style game during this year's Family Fun Night. A team of five fifth graders ultimately won the game.

The gymnasium at the Dale Street School was filled with fourth and fifth graders, family and friends Thursday night as the students (and some siblings) took part in “Friendly Feud,” modeled after the popular television game show “Family Feud.”

In December, different questions were asked of different classrooms. The answers were then tabulated as the answers sought in Thursday’s game.

Children registered at the door and their names were separated by grade.  Names were randomly drawn from a hat to form teams of five.

Each team had a chance to step up to the buzzer and face off against their opponent to try to find the most popular answer to the question read by fifth grade teacher and entertaining Master of Ceremonies, Mr. Mike Mason.

The team with the answer with the most points had a chance to guess all responses on the board. If the student guessed the answer correctly, it was marked on the board and the next student took a turn. After three wrong answers – or strikes – the opposing team had a chance to guess any answer on the board – if they were successful, they stole the points; if they were incorrect, the points reverted back to the original team. This kept the evening lively and the crowd engaged.

For the final round, the team from each grade that had acquired the most points during its turn, was called back for a final round.

The final "lightening round" required one team to win two out of three of the final questions. The fifth graders won the first question. The second question went to the fourth graders who struck out so the fifth grade got a chance to guess the one missing response to "Name something a baby would throw out of its crib."  The fifth grade team guessed the missing answer -- a binky -- and won the title.
