Candidates Emerge in Search for High School Principal

Superintendent of Schools Bob Maguire will review three candidates presented to him by the High School Principal Search Committee.

The Medfield High School Principal Search Committee believes it has found the successor to current MHS principal Judy Noble, who will retire at the conclusion of the 2010-11 academic year.

The committee submitted three candidates out of 22 applicants for Superintendent of Schools, Bob Maguire's consideration as finalist. The candidates are:

  • Derek Folan, current Assistant Principal of Franklin High School
  • Robert Parga, current Principal of Medfield's Blake Middle School
  • Richard Manley, current Humanities teacher at Windham High School in Windham, N.H.

The next steps in the process will begin in the "next week or so," according to Maguire.

"We have been in contact with these folks in the last couple of days to confirm that they want to move forward in the process," Maguire told the School Committee at its March 21 meeting. "All the candidates have agreed that they are comfortable with that."

Maguire said he will be conducting additional interviews with the three candidates at the administration level with a "team" that he will be putting together and interviews will likely be done over the next week.

"In addition, the candidates will all have the opportunity to visit the school, interact with staff and students," Maguire said.

Another focus for Maguire in the process will be an extensive background and reference check of each candidate.

"[We will put forth] our best effort to get a good solid understanding of each individual’s qualifications and strengths and we look forward to a timely conclusion of the process to bring onboard the next principal at the high school," Maguire said.
