Blake Middle School Students Collecting Pajamas for Cradles to Crayons

Blake students collecting new and gently used pajamas until Feb. 17.

Thomas A. kicked off its seventh grade Pajama
Drive for Cradles to Crayons this past Friday by wearing pajamas to school.
The seventh graders at Blake are using the drive to continue with its theme of “kids helping kids” by collecting new and gently used pajamas from Feb. 13 to 17.

Each year, the Boston Bruins sponsor this drive by offering incentives to the school that collects the most pajamas, according to Judy Silva, Blake Middle School seventh grade science teacher. Last year, Blake Middle School finished in second place. This year’s first place state winner will receive either a hockey clinic at their school or a visit from a member of the Boston Bruins. In addition, principal Nat Vaughn and Dean of Students Kelly Campbell have agreed to wear their pajamas to school if Blake wins the contest.

Cradles to Crayons serves the needs of children from newborn to pre-teen. All types and styles of sleepwear will be accepted. Flannel pajama bottoms, popular with the pre-teen crowd, will be counted as one pair. Any and all contributions are appreciated and, as always, participation is voluntary. A drop box has been placed in the school lobby for community donations.
