Blake Collects Donations for Food Cupboard to Remember 9/11

Students at Blake Middle School brought in food on Sept. 11.

As part of a lesson on community, many students at Blake Middle School brought in donations for the Medfield Food Cupboard on Sept. 11.

In addition to wearing red, white and blue to school on Tuesday, students and staff donated hundreds of food items for the food pantry.

Blake's Dean of Students Kelly Campbell said the school started this particular food drive last year.

"Last year, in honor of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, as well as our school theme for the year - "community" - that Blake did a one-day food drive. Donations flooded the guidance office. It was so successful because of our generous community, we thought it was a meaningful and appropriate way to honor the national day of service and remembrance."

For a number of years, Blake has supported the food pantry by doing grade-level collections in October (6th grade), March (8th grade), and April (7th grade).
