Best Florist in the Medfield Area: Lovell's Flowers & Nursery

This past week, we asked readers to fill us in on who the best florist in the Medfield area is.

After days of polling, the results are in! In a close race between two local florists, has been chosen as the best florist shop in the area.

Our shows the majority of readers will be stopping by Lovell's for their floral needs in time for Mother's Day, prom and graduations. The Main Street floral shop claimed 13 of the 15 poll votes (86 percent) and 13 of 26 total votes (50 percent). Lovell's just barely edged out Designs by Lorraine located at the Millis/Medfield town line on Route 109. Medfield resident Lorraine Lee received 11 write-in votes (42 percent of votes) from readers supporting her floral shop. Here's what some readers had to say about Designs Lorraine.

"Designs by Lorraine is by far the best florist in the Medfield area," commented reader Barbara Allan. "Her innovative arrangements are wondrous creations, her innate sense of style and color make her the hands down winner."

"[Designs by Lorraine] created all of my wedding flowers," commented reader Ari Autor. "I recommend her highly for special occasions as well as lovely, every day arrangements. With Mother's Day coming, look no further ... Lorraine will treat your mom right."

"Our home grown florist Lorraine is 'simply the best,'" commented reader Eileen DeSorgher.

"... There are not many businesses that I recommend but I never hesitate to send people to Lorraine," commented reader Michelle.

"Designs by Lorraine is my favorite florist," commented reader Nancy J. "Always attentive to just what you need and very personable service."

Lee, grateful for all the write-in votes, left this comment for readers:

"Thanks everyone for voting [for] me in the poll," Lee said. "I am a lifelong resident of Medfield, born and raised and started my business in Medfield center 22 years ago. I moved [the business] to Millis 15 years ago, right on the Medfield/Millis line on Route 109. I strive to do my best everyday, because I love what I do. Thanks for keeping me in business for all these years."

As for the winner of this week's poll, Lovell's is located at 160 Main St. and offers a variety of floral options, including traditional bouquets. According to Lovell's website, the floral shop is a family owned business and has been serving the Medfield area since 1918.
