Winslow Looks to Create Internet Poker Licenses

Medfield's State Rep. Daniel Winslow (R-Norfolk) recently filed an amendment that would create licenses for Internet poker in the state.

The representative is asking the state to establish three licenses for intrastate Internet poker companies. The licenses would require a minimum $10 million fee, and could generate more than $30 million in new revenue, according to Winslow's office.

Winslow led the , which was accepted as part of the state gaming legislation that went into effect this year.

Winslow said in a statement that having the companies in Massachusetts would be beneficial to the state and its residents.

"State regulation of Internet poker will create significant customer protections that do not currently exist," he said. "Internet poker is a game of skill that fits our high-tech job profile perfectly. We can create new, high-paying tech jobs be leading the launce of this new industry in the United States."
