Where did Monday's Voter Turnout Rank Among Other Medfield Town Elections?
Monday's 1,298 voters was Medfield's highest turnout for a town election since 2008 and fifth highest since 2000.
Medfield Town Clerk Carol Mayer said she expected a large turnout for Monday’s annual Town Election because of the contested race for selectman between Osler “Pete” Peterson and Nikolaos "Nick" Athanasiadis.
“I think we will break 1,000,” Mayer said early at Monday’s Town Election.
She was right as 1,298 residents of 8,091 registered voters (16 percent) made the trip out to the Center at Medfield to cast their vote in Monday’s election. That number is up significantly from the 808 of 8,174 registered voters (10 percent) from a year ago and is the highest voter turnout in Medfield for a town election since 2008 (2,124 voters).
