Selectmen Support Spring Clean Up Program

Selectman Osler Peterson proposed the program on Tuesday.

At the suggestion of Osler "Pete" Peterson, the Board of Selectmen voted last week to implement a "Spring Cleanup Day" in the town of Medfield.

"I think it would make the town a little cleaner, a little brighter, and I think it would be a nice thing to ask [DPW Superintendent Ken Feeney] to do on behalf of the townspeople," Peterson said on Tuesday.

Peterson sees the program as "crowd sourcing" and would encourage residents along main streets to collect trash that is along the streets in the spring. They could then take the trash to the Transfer Station or leave it curbside and the DPW would pick it up.

In a motion made my Peterson and seconded by Richard DeSorgher, the board voted:

That we charge [Feeney] to organize and execute a town-wide cleanup by crowd sourcing the individuals in town to work the streets of town to pick up the trash and the DPW will pick up the bags that are left on the side of the streets.

Patch will let you know details as they become available.
