Patriots' Day: What's Open, What's Not

Here's a look at what's open and what's closed in Medfield on Patriots' Day.

 

Even before it gets started, today is a busy day in our neck of the woods. 

It's the first day of Spring school vacation, it's the day of the 117th running of the Boston Marathon, and it's Patriots' Day -- the 238th anniversary of the start of the Revolutionary War (the opening battle of which began on April 19, 1775).

Whether you’re looking to get some errands done with the day off or it’s business as usual, you may be wondering how the state holiday will affect your schedule.

Here are some helpful hints as you navigate today's unique holiday.

  • Banks: Most banks are open today. If you’re not sure, find your local bank in our directory and call to make sure.
  • Retail: Most are open regular hours. Call ahead. 
  • County offices: All Norfolk County offices are closed today.
  • Library: The Medfield Public Library will be closed today. It will reopen for its usual hours at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
  • Post offices: The U.S. post offices will both be open today.
  • Schools: All Medfield public schools are closed today, but not just because it’s Patriots’ Day. Classes will resume on Monday, April 22.
  • Senior Center: Closed. Activities will resume on Tuesday.
  • Medfield Park & Recreation. Closed. 
  • State offices: All state offices are closed today.
  • Town offices: Town Hall closed today.
