Officials to Host Green Community Forum in Medfield Next Week

The public forum will be held on Thursday, April 3 at Medfield Town Hall.

Residents in Medfield will have the opportunity next week to learn how to bring the town closer to receiving the designation of a "Green Community."

The Green Community Public Forum, which will be held on Thursday, April 4 at 7 p.m. in the Chenery Room of Medfield Town Hall, will focus on the Green Communities act and two warrant articles to be voted on at Town Meeting on April 28.

Article 34 focuses on adopting a large-scale Solar Photovoltaic Facilities Overlay District (POVD), while 35 focuses on the adoption of a Stretch Energy Code bylaw. The Medfield Energy Committee and local representatives will discuss both articles and hold a question-and-answer session.

Both need to be approved to enable Medfield to become a Green Community through the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources. The designation would qualify Medfield for a base grant of $148,000 with additional opportunities for competitive grants. Below is the agenda for the meeting.
