New Medfield Hospital Redevelopment Committee Appointed for State Hospital Purchase

The legislation for the deal must be signed by Governor Patrick by July 31.

A new Hospital Redevelopment Committee has been appointed, according to Selectman Richard DeSorgher’s website.

The new Committee includes: David Perini, Stephen Browne, Kenneth Richards, Ralph Costello, Stephen Nolan, Patrick Casey, Gilbert Rodgers, Randal Karg and Theresa James. Selectmen designated Stephen Nolan as acting chair to call the first meeting.

Selectmen also appointed Michael LaBelle, William Massaro, Rosamond Smythe, Alec Stevens, John Thompson, Frank Perry to serve on a Resource Committee to assist the Hospital Redevelopment Committee and invited James Rohnstock, John Deady and Chip Wakely to also join the Resource Committee.

The town is still waiting to have the hospital land deal, passed by town residents at both town meeting and in general election, finalized by the state. The legislation has made its way through the state House of Representatives, thanks to the guidance of Representatives Denise Garlick and Shawn Dooley.

The legislation is now in the Senate. It must pass through and be signed by Governor Patrick by the end of the legislative session, which is July 31.
