Medfield State Hospital Purchase Passes House, Moves on to Senate

The legislation needs to be signed by the governor by July 31.

Legislation to turn 139 acres of former Medfield State Hospital land over to the town passed the Massachusetts House of Representatives this past week and the matter now goes to the State Senate, according to Medfield Selectman Richard DeSorgher.

In order for Medfield to actually take control of the land, however, the legislation needs to be signed by Gov. Deval Patrick by the end of legislative session on July 31, DeSorgher wrote on his website this weekend.

Medfield officials were notified of the progress on the matter this week by State Rep. Denise Garlick (D-Needham), according to Medfield Selectman Osler "Pete" Peterson
