Medfield Selectmen Approve Licenses and Permits

Selectmen spent less than half an hour on town business at Tuesday's BOS meeting before opening discussion with DCAM Commissioner Carole Corneilson regarding the Medfield State Hospital site.

While the majority of Tuesday’s Board of Selectmen was reserved for an open discussion with DCAM Commissioner Carole Cornelison regarding the former Medfield State Hospital site, the selectmen spent less than half an hour going over town business.

The selectmen voted to approve the appointment of Cheryl O’Malley as an associate member to the Medfield Historical Commission at the request of Historical Commissioner David Temple.

  • Voted to approve and sign appropriation transfer of $2,838.84 from police salaries to animal control salaries. The transfer of funds also requires the signatures of the Warrant Committee.
  • Approved Department of Public Works Superintendent Ken Feeney’s request to sign Chapter 90 project forms, specifically for a 2011 Cat Skid Steer ($41,000); 2011 Mack Dump Truck ($145,00); 2011 Cat Loader ($165,000). Town Administrator Michael Sullivan noted these items were approved in the town’s capital budget.
  • Selectmen approved the May 17 meeting minutes and approved the mission statement for the State Hospital Bylaw Committee but decided to hold further discussion before appointing a committee. The selectmen will review the potential committee members and gauge their interest in joining the committee before voting on it. 

The selectmen approved the following licenses and permits:

  • Medfield Firefighters Mutual Relief Association requested to place signs advertising the Annual Chicken Bake on Saturday, June 18, beginning at 4:30 p.m. They also requested a Common Victualler Permit.
  • Crest Circle neighbors requested a block party permit for Saturday, June 18.
  • Kathy McLean, owner of Fitness Advantage at 99 West St., requested a one-day liquor license for fundraising event being held at her facility.
