Hearing Tonight on Water Rates That Could Increase 25 Percent in May

The public hearing will start at 7 p.m. tonight at Town Hall.

 

Medfield taxpayers will see their water rates increase effective May 1.

The Water & Sewer Board will hold a hearing to discuss the proposed rate increase tonight, April 3, at 7 p.m. in the Chenery Meeting Room in the Town House.

The public is encouraged to attend and ask questions. 

"The rates need to go up a fair amount," Selectman Osler "Pete" Peterson said at Tuesday's selectmen's meeting. "It's a large percentage but it's still a small dollar amount that the rates will go up."

Town Administrator Michael Sullivan said the rate increase will affect the summer's water and will be reflected in the November water bills.

"You have the opportunity to cut consumption now if you want to keep your rates down," said Sullivan.
