Medfield State Hospital PIP Meeting

The town of Medfield will hold a public involvement plan meeting with the Division of Capital Asset Management (DCAM) on the proposed cleanup of the Medfield State Hospital site.

Thursday's meeting will detail DCAM's Phase IV of the remediation project, which will describe how the state agency plans to cleanup the hazardous waste from the Construction and Demolition area of the former state hospital property.

Residents are encouraged to attend and voice concerns with DCAM's plan to keep the hazardous waste on site and not fully remove the material from the property. At the March 22 PIP meeting, roughly 100 residents gathered in the Town House to voice their concerns and frustrations with DCAM's proposal and urge the state agency to fully clean up the site and remove the waste.

Residents have told Medfield Patch there is a planned protest before the meeting to send a "strong and clear" message to DCAM that the town needs full removal of the waste.
