Charlie Baker Will Run for Governor

The Republican candidate made his announcement Wednesday morning on his website.

Republican Charles Baker has officially announced plans for run for governor of Massachusetts.

The Swampscott resident officially made the announcement on a video on his website.

In 2010, Baker ran an unsuccessful bid for governor against sitting Gov. Deval Patrick.

Attorney General Martha Coakley told reporters on Monday at the Greater Boston Labor Council’s annual Labor Day breakfast that she would decide on a gubernatorial run by end of month, according to the Boston Herald.

U.S. Representative Michael Capuano, also in attendance at Monday’s Labor Day Breakfast, said he, too, is mulling a run for the seat, and will make his decision “soon,” according to the Herald.
