Soliciting Leads to Arrest, Realtor Discovers House Break, Rabbit Running Around Inside House, and More

Here's a glance at the safety log for July 9.

The following information was provided by the Medfield Police Department. All arrests are reported. Charges do not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, July 9


1:23 a.m., Main Street. Alarm company reports an alarm coming from the ATM at Shaw's Market. Police said the area checked out okay but the ATM had a message on it "out of service." Bank of America asked an officer to check the ATM with them. All clear at 2:16 a.m.

8:35 a.m., Cedar Lane. Caller requested the Animal Control Officer for a "rabbit running around inside her house." Animal Control responded.

9:54 a.m., Granite Street. Walpole Ambulance took a man to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston after he was hit on the head by a falling part of a tree which resulted in a seizure. 

10:38 a.m., Pine Street. Realtor said one of her properties might have been broken into. Police confirm the house was broken into and fingerprints were taken. 

1:25 p.m., Saw Mill Lane. Caller reported a suspicious gold or beige van with two black males in it.  Gone on arrival.

1:30 p.m., Main Street. Ambulance needed for a man who was hit while on his bicycle. Medfield Ambulance took him to Norwood Hospital.

3:53 p.m., Wood End Lane. Caller reported a black man, early 20s, about 5'10", going door to door selling magazines for Solutions Inc. He did not have proper identification or a permit so he was removed from the area. 

4:04 p.m., Dale Street. Walk-in report of a flag holder medallion stolen from the cemetery. 

4:18 p.m., Saw Mill Lane. Caller reported a black man, 6 feet tall, white shirt with tie, khaki pants. Police said this was the same person they just removed from the area. He was old to "move along" and the man got angry. 

Lester Morris Ivy Jr., 22, of 1921 Gettysburg Road, Dayton, Ohio, was arrested and charged with 

  • assault and battery on a police officer (two counts)
  • soliciting without a permit 
5:27 p.m., Pleasant Street. Caller reported five youths are trying to gain access to the complex and they are banging on the building. Police spoke to the five teens -- one girl lives there and the others are her guests. They will stop throwing tennis balls against the side of the building. 

6:07 p.m., Philip Street. E911 caller said she has a stray dog. Animal Control responded.

6:29 p.m., Elm Street. Caller reported a call from 508-409-0675 saying they were soliciting for the State Police. She said the caller was very rude. Police said this was a scam, and asked her to call back if she hears from them again. 

10:28 p.m., Blacksmith Drive. Police responded to a family disturbance. All is okay at this time. 

10:54 p.m., Pound Street. E911 caller said he was broken down on Pound Street. Police told man to call back on the business line (not the E911 line). Police responded and were able to help him get the car started.
