POLICE: Missing Medfield Man Returns Home

Medfield Chief of Police Robert Meaney Jr. said Rory Visser, 24, who had been missing since Saturday morning, returned to his Medfield home Monday morning.

The morning returned home Monday morning, according to Medfield Chief of Police Robert Meaney Jr.

"Rory [Visser] just walked in the front door of his house," Meaney said in an e-mail to Medfield Patch Monday at 9:26 a.m. Meaney said Rory Visser's father, Joe Visser - a Stoughton Firefighter - called the police department around 9:30 a.m. Monday to report Rory had returned home safely. There are no further details at this time.

"We do not have any details and may not have any," Meaney said. "Our primary concern is that [Rory] is home."

Visser, 24, of 3 John Crowder Rd. in Medfield, was reported missing by his family Sunday morning, according to Medfield Police. By 7:30 p.m. Medfield Police issued a missing person alert of Visser.

Visser is an Iraq War veteran with the United States Marine Corps and was last seen in Wilmington buying tire rims on Saturday, June 18 around 10 a.m. The family reported he had no cell phone use after 10 a.m. Saturday, which was "unusual for him to not check in," the alert said.

Meaney said Wilmington Police and other agencies in surrounding towns [of Wilmington] were notified and began checking "their typical areas around town to see if they can find the truck somewhere," according to Meaney and locate Visser.

The Stoughton Fire Department released this statement on Rory's safe return:

"We would like to thank Pete Denneno/Steve Peck [for] thier efforts [in] coordinating the night of canvassing the whole North Shore/South shore and Central Mass...We had over 20 off duty Stoughton Fire personnel at the drop of the hat...came together and canvassed from New Hampshire down to Cape Cod and as far west as central Mass/South Coast...because that is what families do! We are glad Rory is home and safe."
