POLICE: Medfield Man Reported Missing; Last Seen in Wilmington

Medfield Police said Rory Visser, 24 of Medfield was reported missing Sunday morning by family. Search is underway.

Rory Visser, 24, of 3 John Crowder Rd. in Medfield has been reported missing by his family, according to Medfield Police.

Visser, an Iraq war veteran with the United States Marine Corps, was last seen in Wilmington buying tire rims on Saturday, June 18 around 10 a.m. and the family reported he had no cell phone use after 10 a.m., which is "unusual for him to not check in," according to Medfield Chief of Police Robert Meaney Jr.

"The family called [] earlier [Sunday]," Meaney said. "I don’t know the exact time … it was the morning, so the department has been working on it since then. He was entered as missing probably about [7:30 p.m.] or so. "

Visser is described as 6-foot-3, about 165 pounds with dark hair and a buzz cut, according to reports. He has numerous tattoos on arms, legs and one foot and was last seen driving a 2007 black Chevrolet short-bed pickup truck with the license plate number 83WX68. Meaney said Wilmington Police and other agencies in surrounding towns have been notified and are working to locate Visser.

"We’ve gathered information from the family and Wilmington Police went and interviewed the person [Visser] was in contact with when he purchased the tire rims and they feel like they had a good interview with him and gathered all the information they needed," Meaney said. "Now all those area towns [around Wilmington] go looking at their typical areas around town to see if they can find the truck somewhere."

Meaney said a report of missing person is sent out "if the family voices concern," which Visser's family clearly did.

"As it is already mentioned, it is uncharacteristic for him to not call or communicate, so that raises the level of concern," Meaney said. "That helps us greatly in making a decision like this [to file the report]."

Meaney said at this point, the Medfield Police Department is waiting for information to come into the station in term's of someone locating Visser's vehicle.

"It doesn't appear to be any issues that he would choose to not communicate with his family," Meaney said. "That doesn't appear to be the case but that may end up [being the case] we don't know. ... We have no information that would warrant his disappearance. Nothing unusual going on in his life so you put the information out there and the police officers go out, do their job, look around their towns and see if they can find the vehicle and then let us know what they find."

Anyone with any info on Rory Visser's whereabouts is asked to contact the Medfield Police Department at (508) 359-2315 or Peter Denneno at (781) 844-8090. Denneno works with Rory's father, Joe Visser at the Stoughton Fire Department.
