Police Logs: Officer Hurt on Ambulance Run, Cows in the Road and Fire Alarms

Highlights from Medfield police and fire logs from April 24-30.

Tuesday, April 24:

8:07 a.m. (Suspicious vehicle) – Woman from Bridlefield Lane called to request an officer to check on a suspicious vehicle with a man sitting in it. Officer spoke with operator, who said he was delivering newspapers in the area and ran out of gas. He reportedly had someone on the way to bring him some gasoline. Officer reported the man was on his way.

3 p.m. (Departmental action) – Ken Feeney, DPW Superintendent, called from town hall to report the Medfield Water Department had to turn off the water at the street going to the house at 55 Bridge St because there was a water break there and it was inside the house. There was no one home, according to Feeney.

6:44 p.m. (Fire alarm) – Desk officer received an outside fire alarm that came into the station for 89-A Pleasant St. Fire Department reported it was burnt popcorn.

9:21 a.m. (Family disturbance) – Desk officer received an emergency 911 call from a resident on High Street to report her and her husband may be having a family disturbance. Woman said she missed her ride to Millis and wanted Medfield Police to do something before hanging up the phone. Sergeant Burton and officer O’Neil spoke with the couple and all was in order.

Friday, April 27:

6:55 a.m. (Fraud) – Man from Fairview Road came into the station to report a case of fraud regarding him and his daughter’s checking account. Officer spoke to the man.

1:22 p.m. (Traffic complaint) – Caller reported sandwich board signs on the side of the road at South Street and Route 27 were obstructing the view for traffic turning on to Route 27. Officer reported the signs were indeed obstructing the view and relocated the signs.

1:23 p.m. (Traffic complaint) – Officer reported he was flagged down by a resident reporting there was debris in the road on Route 27 near the police range on North Meadows Road. Officer reported he removed two large pieces of sheet rock to the side of the road. Highway Department was notified for pickup.

3:10 p.m. (Ambulance run) – Caller from the Wheelock School MAP building. Caller reported they had a female who fell and hit her head. Ambulance transported patient to Norwood Hospital.

4:13 p.m. (Miscellaneous complaint) – Caller reported there was a very large tree down on the wires of Plain Street past Sheep Farm. Officer contacted NSTAR to handle the wires on Pole #26.

4:42 p.m. (Vehicle accident) – Caller reported he saw a car lost control at Farm Street and North Street, hit a street sign and left the area. Officer reported he could not find any sign that was hit.

5:05 p.m. (Animal complaint) – Caller reported she would like to speak to Animal Control about her dog.

10:50 p.m. (Miscellaneous complaint) – Officer was told by an individual about an underage drinking party on Main Street. Officer reported he checked out the area.

Saturday, April 28:

12:46 a.m. (Ambulance run) – Caller requested the ambulance to Eastmount Road for her husband who fell and hit his head. Ambulance transported patient to Norwood Hospital.

4:51 a.m. (Ambulance run) – 911 caller reported he would like the ambulance for his wife on Granite Street, who may have had a stroke. Ambulance transported patient to Norwood Hospital with paramedics.

12:25 p.m. (Burning permits) – 14 burning permits issued.

2:55 p.m. (Animal complaint) – Caller reported 15 cows in the road on Route 115 at Route 27. Desk officer notified Sherborn Police Department, who responded.

Sunday, April 29:

6:21 a.m. (Ambulance run) – 911 caller reported he would like an ambulance for an individual having a seizure on Harding Street. Sergeant Fabbo reported she hurt her left knee on scene. Ambulance transported patient to Norwood Hospital with paramedics.

7:29 a.m. (Miscellaneous complaint) – Man walked into the station to report a strong odor of gas in the area of 50 Spring St. Gas company was notified to respond across from 55 Spring St. on the sidewalk.

8:30 a.m. (Vandalism) – Man called from Hearthstone Drive to report while he was out walking he found a lot of beer cans and smashed beer bottles and trash on Philip Street in the Hillcrest area. He requested extra patrols at night in the area.

1:03 p.m. (Burglar alarm) – Alarm Company reported alarm was going off at residence on North Street. Officer notified and reported alarm was going off and an open garage door. Another officer reported an open front door. Desk officer called back the alarm company for contact information and Alarm Company would not release the information. Officer reported all the doors of the house were open and officer secured all the doors.

4:51 p.m. (Alarm company) – Caller requested an ambulance for an injured player at the Wheelock School soccer fields on Elm Street. Patient transported to Norwood Hospital.

Monday, April 30:

9:54 a.m. (Fire alarm) – EMT reported he received a call from alarm company for a fire on Minuteman Road. At 10:01 a.m. it was reported the alarm was accidental by individual cooking.
