Police Logs, Jan. 3-8: Juvenile Arrest and Unruly Protestor

Highlights from Medfield police and fire logs.

Tuesday, Jan. 3:

10:31 a.m. – Sergeant John Wilhelmi issued two citations during traffic enforcement detail at Main and Pound Streets.

3:27 p.m. – Caller reported he wanted advice on a problem he had at the Sunoco station on Main Street. Officer reported it was a civil matter.

3:38 p.m. – Officer reported an open basement window in the Lowell Mason House on Green Street. Officer reported it may have been the wind and all looked OK. Sergeant contacted Cheryl O’Malley, who said the Lowell Mason Foundation knows about the window and all is OK.

3:46 p.m. – Caller reported a car hit a fire hydrant near 27 Oriole Rd. and also a mailbox. Officer notified. Officer requested the ambulance to check out the driver and requested speed dry. Desk officer notified Ed Hinkley of the fire hydrant and he was enroute. At 4:06 p.m., officer transported driver of vehicle to Granite Street and ambulance reported no hospital transport needed.

Wednesday, Jan. 4:

11:21 a.m. – Woman called from West Street to report a tent in the woods by the railroad tracks off of West Street. She thinks there could be someone living in the tent. Detective Geary and an officer located the tent and took it down. There was no one in the area at the time. Desk officer notified Highway Department to remove the tent ASAP.

1:23 p.m. – Woman from Plain Street reported she was having a problem with her son and would like to see an officer. Sergeant and officer responded and reported there was no problem.

2:25 p.m. – Man came into the station to report some time around Dec. 3, someone had stolen the mailbox from the Westwood Gun Club on Trailside Road valued at $350.

4:33 p.m. – Caller reported he hit a deer on Route 27 near Grove Street. Deer was dead. Officer notified and desk officer notified Highway Department for removal.

5:13 p.m. – Individual came into the station to speak to an officer about a case of fraud.

8:54 p.m. – Officer was out at Green Street at the swim pond. Officer reported subjects are in the woods and would keep an eye on the area.

1:37 p.m. – Woman from Green Street called emergency 911 to request the ambulance because she thought she was having a heart attack. Ambulance transported patient to LM Hospital.

4:30 p.m. – Caller reported a dump truck towing a trailer with a bobcat on it travelling down Route 109 towards Millis was sparking. A Medfield firefighter reported he spoke to the driver about the sparking trailer, which was caused by one of the tow chains.

7:18 p.m. – 911 caller reported she would like the ambulance for her husband, who had severe back pains. Patient was transported to Norwood Hospital.

Friday, Jan. 6:

1:07 a.m. – Caller reported people arguing in a house on Main Street. Woman was calling from upstairs of the home. Officer reported he transported one to Bullards Market to meet a family member, who will be taking him hone.

2:49 a.m. – Caller from Pine Grove Road reported she is still having a problem with her son’s girlfriend and would like her removed. Sergeant spoke to the caller and the son’s girlfriend left the house.

12:03 p.m. – Caller reported on South Street by the Norfolk town line there was an injured owl. Animal Control notified and reported the owl was OK and was in a tree.

4:20 p.m. – Officer reported a suspicious vehicle parked behind Papa Gino’s.

5 p.m. – Caller reported a vehicle parked on the corner of Lowell Mason Road could cause an accident. Officer reported the vehicle parked was all set.

5:42 p.m. – Woman called to request the ambulance for her neighbor. Ambulance transported to patient to Norwood Hospital.

7:04 p.m. – Caller reported a deer in the road on Main Street by the Millis line. Officer notified and reported the Highway Department pick up the deer in the morning in front of the water station on Main Street.

10:45 p.m. – Officer reported a suspicious man hiding behind a telephone pole on North Street. Officer reported the man was a boyfriend waiting outside for his girlfriend to put her grandmother to bed.

Saturday, Jan. 7:

3:08 a.m. – Millis Police called and requested mutual aid to assist with a breaking and entering at Millis High School at 245 Plain St., Millis. Suspect refused to come out. Medfield officer responded to the scene.

8:59 a.m. – Man from Indian Hill Road called to report he hit a deer on Orchard Street. Animal Control notified. Man called back to report the deer got up and ran off into the woods.

10:10 a.m. – Woman from Bank of America called to complain about a protestor in front of the bank yelling and swearing at people. Officer notified and reported the protestor left the area.

10:59 a.m. – Caller reported a group of bikers were taking up the whole road on Harding Street and when the vehicle tried to pass, one of the bikers hit his vehicle. Officer notified and talked to both parties.

6:06 p.m. – Officer reported he was out on Main Street in front of the cemetery with a motor vehicle. A 27-year-old Shrewsbury resident was issued a court summons for operating a motor vehicle with suspended registration, uninsured motor vehicle and drug possession less than one ounce of Class D substance.

Sunday, Jan. 8:

9:05 a.m. – Fire Department called to report a caller reported water coming from Eastmount Road. Ed Hinkley notified and sergeant reported it was the overflow.

1:09 p.m. – Multiple calls of a motor vehicle accident on Main Street by Shaw’s came into the station. Officer, ambulance and fire all notified. One was transported to Norwood Hospital.

8:40 p.m. – Caller from Stuart Street reported her son removed some knives from the kitchen and left from the home after an argument with his parents. At 9:01 p.m., Sergeant Wilhelmi requested K9 from metrolec. At 9:13 p.m., officer Alberini enroute with K9. At 9:14 p.m., Officer Alberini was on scene. At 9:15 p.m., Verizon notified and requesting a ping of the phone. At 9:30 p.m., officer O’Neil called and said he would be responding for the SWAT call out. At 9:25 p.m., Medfield Police Chief Robert E. Meaney Jr. was notified of the situation. At 10:49 p.m., officer reported the subject returned to his Stuart Street home. At 10:53 p.m. officer was enroute to the station with one under arrest. At 11:21 p.m., Officer reported he was out on Pond View Avenue looking for a black nap sack. At 11:40 p.m. officer reported he would be enroute to the station with the nap sack. At 12:06 a.m., Sergeant Wilhelmi spoke to the bail commissioner about the subject arrested. At 12:12 a.m., Sergeant Wilhelmi reported Tom Hoban would bail on personal of $40. At 1 a.m., the subject’s parents were in the station to pick up their son. The juvenile was charged with assault and batter (domestic) and assault and battery by dangerous weapon. Meaney said the incident is a Juvenile Court matter.
