Police Logs, Jan. 24 to Feb. 1: Small Fire, Motor Vehicle Accidents and Ambulance Runs

Highlights from Medfield police and fire logs.

Tuesday, Jan. 24:

8:46 a.m. – Man called from his cell phone to report he hit a deer in the area of North Street. Animal Control officer responded and reported the deer was removed. Man’s vehicle was towed by Assured Collision.

1:05 p.m. – Woman came into the station to report some vandalism done to her vehicle around noon Tuesday in the parking lot of Medfield High School. She reported some kids were throwing snowballs in the parking lot and one or two of them broke her driver side mirror. Officer looked at damage.

2:42 p.m. – Caller reported her garage door motor was smoking and buzzing. Ambulance responded to check it out.

4:23 p.m. – Caller reported she would like an ambulance for her husband on Nauset Street, who was having severe stomach pains. Ambulance transported patient to Norwood Hospital.

5:14 p.m. – Man reported he would like an ambulance for his mother on South Street, who was not feeling well. Westwood paramedics transported the patient to Norwood Hospital.

Wednesday, Jan. 25:

9:43 a.m. – Individual from Lantern Lane came into the station to file a report of credit card fraud. Officer spoke with the individual and filed a report.

2:08 p.m. – Woman from Hearthstone Drive came into the station to report a tractor trailer (moving van) that had been parked in the street at Hearthstone Drive and Nebo Street for the past three days running. People are moving furniture on Hearthstone Drive or somewhere in the area. The truck driver leaves at 5 p.m. and comes back the next day. Officer spoke with driver, who said he was almost done. The noise was not the truck running, it was a generator.

Thursday, Jan 26:

3:54 p.m. – Woman called from Robinson Road to report she had a dog at her house for the Animal Control officer to pick up. Animal Control was notified and enroute to take the dog to the Medfield Animal Shelter. At 5:16 p.m., the dog’s owner called to pick up the dog.

6:44 p.m. – Woman called from her cell phone to report a raccoon was hit and it was still alive on Philip Street by Cross Street. Animal Control officer notified and removed the dead possum from the road.

Friday, Jan. 27:

6:31 a.m. – Individual from Cheney Street, Needham came into the station to request some help getting a pair of handcuffs off. The individual found them and put them but no one had a key.

7:22 a.m. – School-crossing guard called from her cell phone to request the police. She had a motor vehicle crash with no personal injury – motor vehicle and a school bus – take place at South and Metacomet Streets. All vehicles removed from the scene.

7:55 a.m. – Woman called from Shepherd Lane to request the Animal Control officer. She had an injured raccoon on her property. Animal Control reported raccoon had to be shot and removed.

8:24 a.m. – 83-year-old woman from Fox Lane was transported to LM Hospital after passing out. Her husband called 911.

8:18 p.m. – Woman called from her cell phone on High and Granite Streets to request the police for a motor vehicle crash. She was standing next to the driver and may need the ambulance on scene. EMT was notified and enroute to scene. EMT reported one was transported to Norwood Hospital.

10:16 p.m. – Man from Pleasant Street called and requested the ambulance. He was drunk and wanted to go to the hospital. Ambulance transported patient to Norwood Hospital.

Saturday, Jan. 28:

8:55 a.m. – Woman called from Oak Street to request Animal Control because she had a squirrel in her house.

9:10 a.m. – Woman called from her cell phone to request Animal Control. She was walking her dog with a friend in the fields behind the Ralph Wheelock School when her dog broke its leg by the railroad tracks and they need help picking it up and placing it in the car so they can take the dog to the vet in Walpole.

1:45 p.m. – The store manager at Shaws on Main Street called emergency 911 to request the ambulance. They had an individual who had fallen in front of the store and sustained a head injury. Some store workers were out front with the individual who fell. Ambulance transported patient to Norwood Hospital.

3:13 p.m. – Individual from Tannery Drive called emergency 911 to request the police and fire departments. Woman reported someone broke into her house and in the basement, there was some broken doors and a smell of gas all in the house. Caller stayed outside and waited for police. At 3:18 p.m., Fire Chief William Kingsbury reported the oil burner let go in the basement. Sergeant Daniel Burgess was out at the scene and at 3:53 p.m. reported he was clear. At 4 p.m., Officer reported he was clear of the scene and filed a report. At 4:07 p.m., Chief Kingsbury reported he was clear of the scene as was the Medfield Fire Department.

4:23 p.m. – Man from Janes Avenue called to report a white male wearing a blue sweater and tan pants with blue sneakers was on the roof of building 33, the building located at the end of Janes Avenue. Sergeant Mayer reported Sherborn and Dover Police were on scene. The building is owned by the Montrose School. Sergeant Burgess requested someone from the Montrose School. At 5:08 p.m., officers were reportedly clear with no luck of finding the individual after a search inside and outside of the building.

Sunday, Jan. 29:

1:52 p.m. – Man on Cross Street called to complain about a neighbor doing some burning on his property on Knollwood Road and the smoke very heavy and in the caller’s house. Ambulance responded and spoke to the homeowner, who would put out the fire.

4:58 p.m. – Caller reported a fire in the woods of Millbrook Road and Gun Hill Road. Desk officer notified Fire Department, which responded to the scene and put out the small fire.

8:11 p.m. – Caller from Colonial Road reported she would like an ambulance for a 74-year-old male for a possible stroke. Patient transported to BID Needham.

9:35 p.m. – 911 caller reported he would like an ambulance for a female who was having a seizer at Wilkens Glen Road. Westwood paramedics transported patient to Norwood Hospital.

Monday, Jan. 30:

9:21 a.m. – Woman reported someone struck her vehicle while it was parked behind Zebra’s Restaurant on Janes Avenue. She did not know who did it and but she found damage when she came out to the parking lot.

5:53 p.m. – Woman from Wilkens Glen Road came into the station to report she thinks somebody took her green book bag from her car that was unlocked. Nothing else was taken. She wanted it logged.

Tuesday, Jan. 31:

11:38 a.m. – Woman walked into the station to report her car was hit sometime last night on South Street and her side mirror was taken off. Officer spoke to the woman.

8:31 p.m. – Two calls came in to the station about a woman who may be having a heart attack at the Noon Hill Grill. Ambulance transported patient to Norwood Hospital.

8:04 p.m. – Caller reported a problem with her stove on Arnold Drive. Fire chief was notified and would handle.

Wednesday, Feb. 1:

2:54 a.m. – Caller reported he heard what sounded like a girl screaming in the area of the swim pond. Officers notified. Officer transported a female back to Frairy Street from Green Street.
