Police Logs: Fire at Tilden Village, Injury by Lawnmower and Fox Spotted at MHS

Highlights from Medfield police and fire logs from April 30 to May 8.

Monday, April 30:

9:54 a.m. (Fire alarm) – EMT reported he received a call from alarm company for a fire on Minuteman Road. At 10:01 a.m. it was reported the alarm was accidental by individual cooking.

5:45 p.m. (Ambulance run) – Woman from Wilkens Glen Road was reported unresponsive but breathing and transported to Norwood Hospital.

Tuesday, May 1:

5:39 a.m. (Working fire) – Medfield Fire Department reported they had a call from the Medfield Post Office about a burning smell coming from the lady’s room. Fire alarm sounded and two fire trucks sounded. Medfield Fire Chief William Kingsbury reported post office was clear.

7 a.m. (Burglar alarm) – Man called to report when he went in to the Middlesex Savings Bank on Main Street to use the ATM Machine and the front door to the bank was open. The man told police he opened the door and said “hello” but no one answered. Officer was notified and at 7:02 a.m. the alarm company called to report the front door motion. Sergeant responded and reported all doors were secured.

7:34 a.m. (Fire alarm) – Woman from Maple Street called to report she had a gas leak. Fire alarm sounded and police were notified. Medfield Fire Chief William Kingsbury reported the woman’s boiler was backfiring.

2 p.m. (Ambulance run) – Nurse from Montrose School called emergency 911 to report a 13-year-old girl at the school had heart surgery a few weeks ago and was experiencing chest pains. Patient transported to BID Needham.

3 p.m. (Miscellaneous complaint) – Caller from Town Hall reported power was out and they were on the generator. Desk officer also received calls around town about the power being out.

Wednesday, May 2:

4:13 p.m. (Miscellaneous complaint) – Individual came into the station to report two young kids on a dirt bike in the Longmeadow Road area. Officer spoke to the individuals on the dirt bike and their mother about this incident.

Thursday, May 3:

7:15 a.m. (Assist another agency) – Millis Police desk officer reported a man that drove by a Tresca Brothers concrete truck and flashed a gun at the truck driver. The man with the gun was going east on Main Street (Route 109) heading into Medfield. All officers notified and desk officer notified Westwood Police. Medfield Police checked from the Millis town line to the Dover town line with no luck of locating the vehicle.

8:01 a.m. (Assist another agency) – Woman called from the Norfolk County Mosquito Control out of Norwood to report they will be spraying for mosquitoes Wednesday with their bell jet ranger helicopter. They will be working from the old landfill off of North Meadows Road.

4:31 p.m. (Miscellaneous complaint) – Man called to report wires were down on Plain Street. Officer reported a tree was down.

4:42 p.m. (Arrest) – Dover Police called to report an erratic driver was in a motor vehicle crash on Hartford Street. David LaChapelle, 47, of 7 Heritage Path, Millis was arrested by Medfield Police on charges of failing to stop for police and no inspection sticker.

Friday, May 4:

9:16 a.m. (Animal complaint) – Caller from Adams Street reported a dead housecat on her front porch. Animal Control notified.

4:50 p.m. (Vehicle towed/summons issued) – Officer reported he was out at Cumberland Farms with a vehicle that was revoked for insurance reasons. Woman from East Boston was issued a court summons on charges of unlicensed operation of motor vehicle, operation of motor vehicle with suspended registration and uninsured motor vehicle and issued a court summons to a Revere man for allowing improper operation of motor vehicle.

Saturday, May 5:

3:17 a.m. (Noise complaint) – Man called 911 to report he heard a gunshot in the area of his house. Officer reported he checked the area with no results.

7:36 a.m. (Working fire) – Fire alarm struck for report of a fire in the attic of a two-story at Tilden Village Building 5. Engine 1 and two pumper engines responded to the scene. Medfield Fire Chief William Kingsbury reported fire was knocked down.

11:01 a.m. (Assist another agency) – Millis Police requests help with a search for a suspect involved in an armed robbery that occurred in their town.

12:05 p.m. (Ambulance run) – EMT reported a walk-in medical emergency – possible amputation. A 63-year-old man from North Street came into the station with three fingers damaged by a lawnmower. Fire Chief William Kingsbury requested Medflight but Medflight reported they weren’t flying due to the weather. Ambulance transported patient to Brigham in Boston.

1:31 p.m. (Motor vehicle stop) – Individual came into the station to report a person fell off his motorcycle on Main Street and was in the bushes. Officers responded and requested a tow for the bike.

6:21 p.m. (Miscellaneous complaint) – Westwood Police caller reported a car was all over the road on Main Street coming into Medfield. Officer reported he had the vehicle stopped by Millbrook on Main Street. Officer issued a summons to a Newton resident on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration.

7:55 p.m. (Miscellaneous complaint) – Man from Frairy Street called to report a group of youths throwing fireworks at passing vehicles. Officer notified and searched area with no luck.

Sunday, May 6:

12:30 p.m. (Larceny) – Man called to report his pool cover was stolen from his driveway. He said it was there at 10:45 a.m. and was gone at 11:05 a.m. Officer filed an incident report.

4:02 p.m. (Animal complaint) – Caller reported she had an injured rabbit in her backyard on Shawnee Road.

Monday, May 7:

10:50 a.m. (General offenses) – Man called and reported a woman came to his door accusing him of giving drugs to her son. He wanted it noted.

3:24 p.m. (Animal complaint) – Caller reported she would like to speak to Animal Control about a coyote.

Tuesday, May 8:

7:33 a.m. (Fire alarm) – Fire alarm for Tilden Village came into the station. Medfield Fire Chief William Kingsbury reported it was caused by burnt food.

8:35 a.m. (Animal complaint) – Caller from Medfield High School reported a fox walking around the outside of the building.
