Police Logs: Fight at American Legion, Car Fire and SWAT Training at State Hospital

Highlights from Medfield police and fire logs from March 14-19.

Wednesday, March 14:

1:06 a.m. - Sherborn Police Department reported a car hit another car and a mailbox and took off down Route 27 towards Medfield. Officer reported vehicle was gone on arrival.

11:04 a.m. - Westwood Police reported they have a breaking and entering going on in the area of High Street and Pond Street in Westwood. They are looking for a heavy set black male wearing a red shirt, blue jeans with a black backpack. Black male is reportedly on foot somewhere in the wooded area. Westwood Police located the black male in the house.

12:39 p.m. - A 49-year-old Medfield man was issued a court summons on a charge of assault and battery of an elder.

7:15 a.m. - Officer from Framingham Police Department called to report they would be doing some training with their SWAT team and officers at the Medfield State Hospital all day Thursday.

Friday, March 16:

11:10 a.m. - Branch manager of Bank of America on Main Street called emergency 911 to report there were some people on the sidewalk outside of the bank she would like removed. Officer reported three was no problem with the people as they are "LaRouche supporters."

1:13 p.m. - Woman called from her cell phone in front of the Bank of America building on Main Street – she is doing support work for LaRouche – and reported a young man came running from behind the bank and knocked over their table and paperwork. Officer reported he checked the area with no luck and would keep an eye on the area for now.

3:05 p.m. - Woman called from her cell phone to request the police at Routes 109 and 27 because she was in a motor vehicle crash with reported personal injury to her arm. Officer responded to the scene and reported the accident is not at Routes 109 and 27 but at Spring Street and Pine Grove Road on Route 27. At 3:18 p.m., the ambulance transported one patient to Norwood Hospital. Assured Collision towing responded on scene to tow two vehicles.

4:23 p.m. - Man called from his cell phone to report he was in a motor vehicle crash with no personal injury on Main and South Streets by Lord's Department Store. There was oil reported in the road and some speedy dry was required on scene to clean it up. Officer reported the accident was not at Main and South Streets but at Main and Brook Streets. Assured Collision towed two vehicles.

7:29 p.m. - Man called from his cell phone to request an officer remove the kids playing around inside the Medfield Coin Laundry at 503 Main St. Officer reported the kids had been removed and there was no damage.

8:26 p.m. - Man called from his cell phone to report his car was on fire on Route 27 between Route 109 and the Sherborn town line. Sergeant Burgess reported he was out with the car fire by the Medfield Transfer Station at 135 North Meadows Rd. Officer reported he gave the driver a ride to the station to call for a ride. Sergeant Mayer reported Assured Collision towed the motor vehicle.

10:05 p.m. - Man from North Street called emergency 911 to report a loud noise coming from the area of the railroad tracks by Farm Street. Officer reported a possible disabled motor vehicle with oil in the road. Assured Collision towed vehicle.

Saturday, March 17:

10:47 p.m. - Thomas Donovan, 42 of 26 Knollwood Rd. was arrested on a protective custody charge after Massachusetts State Police transferred an emergency 911 call to Medfield Police Desk Officer from the American Legion about a fight in progress. All officers notified and Donovan was brought in to the station under protective custody. At 11:42 p.m., Donovan's father came in to the station to pick him up.

11:34 p.m. - Caller requested the ambulance for an 18-year-ld that was intoxicated. Ambulance transported patient to Norwood Hospital. Sergeant Fabbo and officer Kerns went to speak with residents at Philip Street.

Sunday, March 18:

6:01 p.m. - Officer reported he was out on Adams Street with a dirt bike. Officer reported the operator lives on Friary Street and would be walking the bike home.

Monday, March 19:

7:07 a.m. - Woman caller reported a loose dog on Nebo Street.
