Police Logs: 10 Mailboxes Damaged, Blown Transformer and Vandalism

Highlights from Medfield police and fire logs from May 21-29

Monday, May 21:

8:26 a.m. (Missing property found) – Man called from his cell phone to report he and his wife were out walking on Noon Hill Road when they spotted what looked like a gun on the banks of Stop River by the bridge. Officer retrieved pellet gun from the banks of Stop River and returned it to the station for found property.

9:02 a.m. (Larceny) – Man from 91 Pleasant St. came into the station and requested to speak with an officer about his pickup truck being vandalized and some things stolen from inside of it overnight. Man’s pickup truck was parked in the back lot of the Pleasant Street Garden Apartments. The man reported the following items were stolen from his vehicle: TomTom GPS (valued at $100), Vizio 32-inch flat screen TV (valued at $450) and prescription sun glasses (valued at $400). The driver’s side window and rear small door were vandalized. Officer Grover spoke with the man and looked at the damage of the truck. He will do a report.

6:27 p.m. (Animal complaint) – Man from Pederzini Drive called emergency 911 to request the Animal Control officer because he has a “very big copper head snake” in his shed and he needs it removed. Animal Control officer responded to the scene and removed the snake. ACO Jennifer Shaw reported the snake bit her while she was removing it from the property.

7:26 p.m. (Ambulance run) – Man from Wilkens Glen Road called emergency 911 to request the ambulance for his wife, who was having a medical problem. Patient was transported to LM Hospital.

9:54 p.m. (Miscellaneous complaint) – Man from Cole Drive called to request an officer to remove the kids and their vehicles that were hanging out at the end of Cole Drive. Caller reported this was an ongoing problem with the kids.

10:35 p.m. (Burglary / Breaking & Entering) – Woman called from Bridge Street to report her home was broken into some time between 10 a.m. and noon on May 21. Woman went up to her bedroom and everything was turned over in the room.

Tuesday, May 22:

9:55 a.m. (Miscellaneous complaint) – Man walked into the station from Pound Street to speak to an officer about someone stalking him.

6:21 p.m. (Assist a citizen) – Woman came into the station to report youths are hanging out and drinking in the rear of the complex located on Spring Street by the railroad tracks on Friday and Saturday nights. Woman requested extra patrols for the area.

10:25 p.m. (Medical/mental) – Man came into the station to report his girlfriend took some pills and got out of the car on North Street near the station. Woman reportedly “took off” behind the house next to the police station. At 10:44 p.m. officer notified K-9 unit and State Police called to report they had a K-9 unit enroute. Caller reported a woman was walking down North Street near the schools just before Harding Street. At 10:58 p.m. officer reported he was securing the car and the pill bottles. One Medfield Police officer reported he suffered a cut on his nose in the process. Patient was transported to Norwood Hospital.

Wednesday, May 23:

3:14 a.m. (Fire alarm) – Fire alarm sounded for Tilden Village on Pound Street. Fire Department responded and reported the alarm was reset.

4:46 p.m. (Vehicle accident) – Medfield Fire Chief William Kingsbury reported a minor 3-car motor vehicle crash on Main Street at South Street. Officer reported all was OK upon arrival.

10:14 p.m. (Animal Complaint) – Woman from Homestead Drive called emergency 911 to request the Animal Control officer for a raccoon walking around her back yard.

Thursday, May 24:

9:55 a.m. (Suicide or attempt) – Woman from North Street reported her son was threatening to commit suicide. Officer and ambulance transported patient to Norwood Hospital.

12:22 p.m. (Assist a citizen) – Man reported reporters are blocking a resident’s driveway on Woodridge Road. Officer responded and reported it was just one small vehicle leaving the area. Scene was clear.

10:45 p.m. (Noise complaint) – Three calls about fireworks in the center of town. Officer checked the area and reported all was quiet.

Friday, May 25:

9:46 a.m. (Miscellaneous complaint) – Man called from his cell phone to request the police remove the “TV people” from the parking lot of St. Edward’s Church parking lot. Sergeant Burton spoke with Father Leroy of St. Edward’s Church, who said he had no problem with the “TV people” parking there.

3:29 p.m. (Vehicle accident) – Woman called from her cell phone to report she had hit a dog on Hatters hill Road and it was still alive. Sergeant Burton requested the ambulance for the owner of the dog, who was having chest pains. Animal Control officer reported the dog had died and owners now had it. Patient was transported to Norwood Hospital.

Saturday, May 26:

3:40 a.m. (Disturbance) – Resident from Janes Avenue called to report a couple upstairs had been arguing for a few hours. Officer was notified and reported the couple upstairs is having a party and they were instructed to keep it down.

12:50 p.m. (Mischief) – Man from High Street called and requested to see an officer about kids throwing nails in his driveway and moving large rocks he has on his front lawn. Officer spoke with the man and the kids threw a handful of roofing nails on his driveway.

11:35 p.m. (Suspicious activity) – Cell caller reported a large party of youths partying in the area of North and Farm Streets. Officers responded and spoke with residents, who said they would move the party inside.

Sunday, May 27:

3:23 a.m. (Assist a motorist) – Man reported while driving from Millis and stopped at the light at the intersection of Routes 109 and 27, by Cumberland Farms, someone threw an item that smashed his windshield. Man drove the vehicle to the police station and reported the incident in person. Officer reported the windshield was smashed and proceeded to investigate the intersection of Routes 109 and 27.

11:35 a.m. (Miscellaneous complaint) – Man from Knollwood Road called to report a water break in his basement and he needed someone from the Medfield Water Department to turn off the water at the street.

7:12 p.m. (Disturbance) – Caller reported three women yelling at one woman on Wilkens Glen Road with children present. Officers responded and reported all parties were spoken to and it was a civil matter with management.

11:54 p.m. (Vandalism) – Caller reported that a loud truck smashed about four to six mailboxes on Stuart Street. Officer reported 10 mailboxes were damaged.

Monday, May 28:

1:14 a.m. (Vandalism) – A caller reported damage to his car while it was parked in the street on Cypress Street.

2:17 p.m. (Vandalism) – Residents on South Street came into the station to speak to an officer about their neighbor taking down their fence.

Tuesday, May 29:

9:52 a.m. (General offenses) – Report of a transformer blown in the area of South Street and Juniper Lane. Fire Department reported dump truck took down house service wire that was still on the truck. NSTAR was notified.
