Police Log: Stolen Plow Blade Worth $6k, Signal Failure, Smell of Gas, Two-Hour AAA Delay

Here is a glance at the police log for Dec. 26 and Dec. 27.

Wednesday, Dec. 26

8:50 a.m., South Street. Caller reported the gates, bells and lights are going off at the South Street crossing but there is no train. Police discovered no problem with the crossing.

9:26 a.m., West Street. Business reported that sometime between Dec. 21 and Dec. 26 someone stole an 8.5 foot snowplow blade valued at $6,000. At 3:37 p.m., Duxbury Police called to say that someone stole a similar plow in their town on Dec. 24.

10:54 a.m., Prentiss Place. Caller said her smoke alarms are going off but there is no smoke or fire in her house. Medfield Fire investigated and determined it was a bad smoke alarm.

11:35 a.m., South Street. Caller reported the gates, bells and lights are going off at the South Street crossing but there is no train. Police contacted CSX Railroad.

2:36 p.m., Spring Street. Caller reported wood and possibly nails in the road on the southbound lane of Spring Street (Route 27) between 26 Spring Street and High and South Streets. Medfield Highway will clean up.

4:24 p.m., Curve Street. Caller said her car was broken down and AAA would be there in about two hours. 

6:15 p.m., Briar Hill Road. Alarm company reports an alarm sounding. At 7:26 p.m., te owner said he is on his way home and would like an officer to walk through the house with him. All okay.

9:21 p.m., Millis. Millis Police called to request mutual aid by Medfield Ambulance on Plain Street in Millis. Medfield Fire responded, no transport needed.

9:44 p.m., Spring Street. Caller called to discuss a family issue between ex-spouses. Police said the problem has been resolved for now.

10:22 p.m., North Meadows Road. Police suggested the Highway Department check the roads because it is snowing.

11:15 p.m., Main Street. Many calls and a walk-in report of a deer in the middle of the street near Robert Sproul Road. Police said the deer was dead and moved it to the side of the road. 

Thursday, Dec. 27

3:12 a.m. and 5:16 a.m., North Meadows Road. Fire alarm came into the station for 18 Meadows Road, the Papa Gino's Plaza. Medfield Fire responded.

3:34 a.m., High Street. Walpole Police said they received a call about a motor vehicle accident with property damage on High Street. Medfield Fire notified but then cancelled. A wrecker was called for a 2008 Kia Sorento.

8:54 a.m., Pine Street. E911 caller reported a lot of gun shots in the area of his house. Police said it was all quiet.

12:12 p.m., Hickory Drive. Medfield Fire said they are on their way to Hickory Drive for a smell of gas in the area. Police called Columbia Gas and they have someone on the way. 

12:27 p.m., Millis. Millis Police requested mutual aid by Medfield Ambulance for an elderly woman who was having difficulty breathing on Union Street. Patient was taken to Leonard Morse Hospital.
