Police Log: Skunk Chasing a Neighbor, Railroad Lights on but No Train

The following information was provided by the Medfield Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, Sept. 10

7:01 p.m.: A woman called from Spruce Way to report the lights and bells were going off at the West Street railroad crossing, but no train was appearing. Police called CSX Railroad to determine the problem.

7:53 p.m.: A woman called from Hartford Street and reported she had heard a crash. A man called about the same time to report there was personal injury. Police responded. A patient was taken to Norwood hospital.

Wednesday, Sept. 11

7:41 a.m.: A caller reported a loose beagle on Farm Street near the railroad tracks.

8:25 a.m.: A Medfield Public Schools employee reported traffic lights at South Street  and Main Street were taking a long time to change. Police checked and found the lights seemed to be working fine.

8:52 a.m.: A caller on Dale and Adams streets reported a sick animal in the road. 

2:53 p.m.: A caller reported a minor crash near Noon Hill Grill on Main Street.

4:12 p.m.: Police and EMTs responded to the ball field on Hospital Road, where a 15-year-old girl was reported down. She was taken to a Framingham hospital. 

4:18 p.m.: An EMT at the scene on Hospital Road requested an ambulance from Millis, for another patient. That person also was taken to Framingham.

4:23 p.m.: A caller on Butterfield Lane reported he had a fire on the back side of the house. Walpole Fire Department responded.

6:19 p.m.: Poolice and EMTs responded to Montrose School, where a 17-year-old girl had passed out. She was taken to Norwood's hospital.

7:22 p.m.: A man walked into the police station and reported he had a "letter of disinvite" for his wife, who is going into his home while he is at work and going through his mail.

Thursday, Sept. 12

5:24 p.m: A caller reported a possible water main break in the area of Indian Hill Road.

5:33 p.m.: A caller at the football field on Philip Street reported a heavy-set man with shorts and a baseball cap was watching the girls practice at the football field. Police responded and the man said he was watching the soccer game. He was moved along.

8:18 p.m.: A caller reported a skunk was chasing her neighbor on Springvalley Road and Longmeadow Road and it appeared to be rabid. The animal control officer was contacted.

10:38 p.m.: A nurse at Newton/Wellesley Hospital reported a dog bit had occurred on Marilyn Road. Police contacted the animal control officer.

Friday, Sept. 13

7:51 a.m.: A manhole cover was off the road on South Street. A Water Department employee responded.
