Police Log: Sick Fox Sightings, Woman Hit by Falling Kitchen Cabinet

Friday, Aug. 30

11:17 a.m.: An officer was investigating a report of suspicious activity on Frairy Street. He spoke to a person waiting in a car outside a home. The man was waiting to pick up a check, and checked out OK.

1:37 p.m.: A woman reported someone had left a boy's mountain bike behind a Main Street business. She asked police to log the information in case the owner inquired about it.

3:27 p.m.: A woman on Maplewood Road reported a six fox was on the front lawn of her neighbor's house. The animal control officer was contacted. She reported the animal had run off into the woods.

7:30 p.m.: A man called on his cell phone and said a sick fox was on the front lawn of his Remsen Avenue home and needed to be removed. The animal control officer responded. The animal ran off into the woods.

8:57 p.m.: A woman walked in to police headquarters to report she was taking care of a dog on Pine Street and was having trouble getting into the house. Police were contacting someone with a spare set.

Saturday, Aug. 31

6:00 a.m.: An alarm company reported an alarm was going off at Basil's Restaurant. An officer responded and found the bulkhead door opened. The police checked the building and everything appeared in order. The owner was responding.

7:23 a.m.: A two-car crash was reported on Main Street. No one was injured.

8:33 p.m.: A caller reported a car had hit a wall on Route 27 near South Street, and was then attempting to drive away. An officer responded.

10:31 p.m.: Firefighters were responding to the Thomas Upham House on Main Street to investigate an odor of gas in the basement.

11:02 p.m.: Police investigated a suspicious vehicle in the Medfield Cemetery. An officer reported a man was out looking for his two dogs that had run off.

Sunday, Sept. 1

9:17 a.m.: Firefighters received a report of a possible lightning strike at Wills Hardware on West Street.

2:08 p.m.: A man called police and reported a sick fox beside the driveway on Summer Street. The animal control officer was responding.

8:10 p.m.: A caller reported the cabinet in her kitchen had fallen off the wall and struck her grandmother in the head. She asked for an ambulance to evaluate her. An officer and an ambulance crew responded. The woman did not need to be taken to the hospital.

Monday, Sept. 2

1:16 a.m.: A man was walking around North Street near Janes Avenue, yelling to himself, a caller reported. Police responded but the man was gone.

8:37 a.m.: Police received several calls reporting low water pressure. Calls came in from Eastmount Road, Adam Street, and Hartford Street. Police reported the issue to the water department.

8:41 a.m.: An officer reported finding a tree down on Main Street.

10:46 a.m.: Following a motor vehicle stop on South Street, police were seeking a summons to charge a 33-year-old with speeding in violation of a special regulation, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
