Police Log: Protective Custody, Snowstorm Incidents, 911 in Queens

Here's a glance at the Medfield safety log for Dec. 29 and Dec. 30.

Saturday, Dec. 29 (night of the snowstorm)

8:42 a.m., Metacomet Street. Caller said she smelled gas when she was out for a walk in the area. 

9:53 a.m., Hospital Road. Medfield State Hospital security called to say he located eight hunters on the property across the street from their office (between Hospital Road and North Meadows Road). They told the hunters they could not hunt in that area; they left and said they would not return but Security wanted it noted.

11:24 a.m., Peter Kristoff Way. Caller requested police for a motor vehicle accident with property damage in the parking lot. Accident involved a 2000 Toyota Camry and a 2010 BMW; one driver had an Australian driver's license.

11:51 a.m., North Street. Verizon worked on the E911 and phone system at the police station.

1:51 p.m., South Street. Princeton Police called to request police go to the home of a South Street man and have someone call the Princeton station because his car has been parked in their town all day with the car keys in the door. At 5:29 p.m., Princeton called back to say they found the man and he had moved his car.

1:53 p.m., Elm Street. E911 caller reported a disturbance on Elm Street. Kimberley MacIntosh, 28, of Frairy Street, Medfield, was taken into protective custody.  

3:18 p.m., North Street. Verizon worked on the phone lines at the police station.

3:50 p.m., Spring Street. Police were out with a disabled motor vehicle near Kingsbury Pond. The vehicle was towed.

4:23 p.m., North Meadows Road. Police notified the DPW of the snow covered roads. DPW crew will head out.

5:02 p.m., North Meadows Road and Hospital Road. Caller said he hit the sign on the island at this intersection after he slid because of the snow-covered road. 

5:45 p.m., Spring Street. Police helped with church traffic at St. Edward's Church.

5:50 p.m., Spring Street and South Street. Police said a motorist stopped and told him about a car accident at Spring and South Streets. Police responded and said there was no personal injury and no wrecker was needed. The accident was between a 1987 Chevy Camaro and a 2009 Subaru.

6:22 p.m., Sherborn. Medfield Ambulance enroute to Sherborn for mutual aid for a car accident at South Main Street and Bullard Street (Routes 27 and 115). At 6:24 p.m., Sherborn cancelled the run. 

6:55 p.m., North Meadows Road. Caller reported a vehicle off the road near the Peter Kristoff Road. Police said the vehicle is well off the road and AAA is on its way.

7:14 p.m., High Street and Wild Holly Lane. Caller said a car is stuck in the snow and cannot make it up the hill; vehicles are having trouble getting around her. The DPW cleared the road and all vehicles are on their way.

8:03 p.m., Westwood. Westwood Police called to say they just had a hit and run accident in front of their public library. A dark colored pickup truck hit a pole and drove off down Main Street and may be going down Hartford Street and into Medfield. Police checked the area streets with no luck.

8:07 p.m., Medway. Norfolk County radioed the station for Medfield Fire to send a truck for station coverage to the town of Medway.

9:16 p.m., Thomas Clewes Road and Dale Street. Caller said a vehicle is always parked at this corner and the plows are "just making it around the vehicle." Police placed a red overnight No Parking Ban card on the windshield of the vehicle.

11:50 p.m., Main Street. Walk-in report of mischief, said kids were sledding near Lovell's Nursery. Gone on arrival.

Sunday, Dec. 30

8:05 a.m., 10:05 a.m., 12:01 p.m., 6:47 p.m., Spring Street. Police helped with church traffic at St. Edward's Church.

9:24 a.m., Indian Hill Road. Police issued a verbal warning to a private plow operator who violated a town bylaw by pushing snow into the street. 

3:07 p.m., Hatter's Hill at Main Street. E911 caller reported a motor vehicle accident with no personal injury between a 2012 Range Rover and a 1996 Mercury Sable. 

3:56 p.m., Riverview Road and Clark Road. Caller said his road has not been plowed. Also the end of Alder. DPW said they would be out after midnight to clean up remaining areas.

5:32 p.m., Causeway Street. E911 caller reported a motor vehicle accident in front of her house. The vehicle, a 1997 Saab 900, was towed. 

6:15 p.m., Pine Street. Caller was trying to report an emergency in Queens, NY, but could not reach local police 411 number. Medfield located the number for the New York State Police and advised she call them.

6:19 p.m., Sherborn. Sherborn Police requested mutual aid for an accident at Route 27 near Route 115. 

6:23 p.m., North Street. Caller requested information on filing a report on an incident that happened in July. 

8:13 p.m., Pine Street. E911 caller said her 70-year old husband is having trouble breathing. Medfield Fire took him to Needham Hospital. 

9:09 p.m., North Meadows Road. Fire alarm going off in Papa Gino's Plaza. No apparent afire. Ongoing problem with alarm.
