Police Log: Coyote Attacking Animal, Sound of Gunfire

The following information was provided by the Medfield Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Sunday, Sept. 29

8:38 a.m.: Police responded to Shaw's, where another officer had pulled a driver over and requested assistance. Police arrested Marcio Vieira, 44, of 4213 Homestead Dr., Westborough, on two warrants.

4:36 p.m.: A woman walked in to police headquarters and reported she had received a call that day from a man who said he had her brother, and unless she wired him money, they would harm him. She called her brother and he was fine. She asked police to log the information.

7:14 p.m.: A caller reported a car was all over the road coming into Medfield Center on Main Street. Police found the car parked on Janes Avenue, but could not find the driver.

8:42 p.m.: A caller told police she heard what sounded like gunshots coming from the direction of Liberty Road. Police checked but found nothing.

9:45 p.m.: A caller said he could hear what sounded like a coyote attacking a dog in the area of the animal shelter. Police checked the area but found nothing.

Monday, Sept. 30

9:35 a.m.: A man called from the Department of Corrections and said he would have some of his people cutting the grass on the property of Medfield State Hospital Monday.

3:08 p.m.: An employee of Middlesex Savings Bank reported two women were trying to force an older man into a car. It was a silver Ford Taurus wagon. Police responded. It was a man whose daughters were helping him into the car.

7:21 p.m.: A caller on Pine Street reported receiving annoying calls that might be a scam.

Tuesday, Oct. 1

9:19 a.m.: A desk officer from Westwood Police said a woman reported a large box truck was taking down wires on High Street. The woman provided no description of the vehicle, but said the driver might not know they were taking down wires.

4:16 p.m.: A caller on Pleasant Street said she had a stray dog on her deck. The animal control officer was contacted.
