"The complainant reported the driver of another vehicle allegedly pointed a handgun equipped with a laser sight at him as the two vehicles drove in close proximity to one another," said Sergeant Charles Johnston of the New Hampshire State Police through a press release.

According to Sgt. Johnston, "the suspect's vehicle was stopped near exit 23 by New Hampton Police."

"[Priovolos] was found to be in possession of a handgun with a grip activated laser sight," the release said. "The incident appeared to have resulted from a road rage type of incident that occurred between drivers."

New Hampton Police Chief Merritt D. Salmon told Medfield Patch Thursday night he stopped Priovolos on information provided by New Hampshire State Police and transported him back to the  New Hampton station. From there, according to Chief Salmon, a State Trooper arrived to interview Priovolos.

Priovolos, according to the Associated Press, was released "on his own recognizance" and will appear in New Hampshire Circuit Courts, District Division of Laconia and Franklin, N.H. at "a later date."

Chief Salmon said Priovolos will appear in court on the "expired driver's license charge" on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. in Laconia Court.
