At 11:12 p.m. Monday (June 17) night, the Medfield Police Department received two telephone calls after a 1996 Nissan Maxima hit a NSTAR utility pole. Soon after, Officer Sallale reported that he was out at Pond View Avenue where one of the men, the driver, (there was a passenger in the car) had fled on foot.

At 11:31 p.m., Sgt. Fabbo asked that the K-9 unit be called to check for the driver because she believed he might be injured and he was not answering his cell phone.

The Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council (MetroLEC) was contacted but had not returned Medfield's call by 11:58 p.m. so the State Police K-9 unit was called in.

At 12:15 a.m. Tuesday (June 18) morning, the State Police arrived with the K-9 dogs and CSX was notified that they would be on the railroad tracks looking for the suspect.

Back at the scene of the accident, at 12:11 a.m., Medfield Ambulance evaluated the passenger in the car (who was not identified) and determined it was not necessary for that person to go to the hospital.

The K-9 search for the driver continued until 1:31 a.m. when Medfield Police Officer Sallale said he found the man on Pond View Avenue. The State Police K-9 units were notified and called off.

Medfield Ambulance evaluated DiPesa and determined he did not need to go to the hospital.

He was kept overnight at the police station where bail was set at $250. At 8 a.m., Medfield Police then drove him to Dedham District Court for a 9 a.m. hearing.

The car was towed away. And NSTAR had looked at the wires and determined they had not been compromised.
