Medfield Teen Still Missing, Family Asks Her to Contact Them

Medfield Police say 17-year-old Brittany Thompson left the library on Monday and has not been seen since.

UPDATED: Sept. 11, 2013 at 3:30 p.m.

Seventeen-year-old Brittany Thompson left the Medfield Public Library on Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, and has not been seen since.

The Medfield Police Department held a press conference on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at which they described Brittany as "developmentally young." According to surveillance footage from the library, Brittany appears to have left the library with someone with whom she was familiar.

Police believe she friended an unknown white male on the Internet and arranged to meet him at the library.  The two left together around 4:25 p.m., within a very short time after he arrived at the library.

"We have some concerns about her decision-making skills," said Medfield Police Chief Robert Meaney Jr. "Her decision-making skills may not be at the level of a typical 17-year-old."

Brittany's father, Michael, told the media that the last two days have been "very difficult," and Brittany's mother, Maureen, appealed to the man who left with her daughter:

"Whoever you are: Would you please just bring her home; we want her to sleep in her own bed tonight," she said.
