Medfield Police Logs, Nov. 30 to Dec. 5: Attempted B&E, Small Oven Fire and Ambulance Runs

Highlights from Medfield police and fire logs.

Wednesday, Nov. 30:

1:09 a.m. – Caller reported her 3-year-old was having trouble breathing. Ambulance transported patient to Norwood Hospital.

3:39 p.m. – An outside box alarm came in for the Meadowview Apartments on Frairy Street. Fire Department was notified and responded. All units were clear at 3:45 p.m. after reporting it was burnt food.

5:43 p.m.  – 911 caller from South Street reported she was having a problem with her husband, who had locked her out of their home. Officers responded and spoke to both parties. The husband agreed to leave the premises.

7:21 a.m. – Millis dispatch requested an ambulance for a motor vehicle accident in front of the town’s Dunkin Donuts on Main Street. Medfield ambulance transported one patient to Milford Regional Hospital.

8:34 a.m. – Caller reported from Adams Street the roadway is completely blocked off by workers working on a house and there was no detail officer on scene. Motorists were riding over the caller’s yard to get around. Sergeant was dispatched and requested the Medfield Highway Department shut down the roadway for the construction crew.

1:41 p.m. – Caller reported she needed an ambulance at Oak Street because her husband was having a diabetic emergency. Events EMS paramedic unit notified and ambulance transported patient to BID Medical Center in Needham.

2:24 p.m. – Caller reported a beaver running around the parking lot at Shaw’s. Animal Control reported beaver was gone on arrival.

6:08 p.m. – Man called to report a car went into a pole on Lee Road. No injuries were sustained. Woman was on scene and requested the ambulance to check out her son. No transport needed and NSTAR was notified for repair to work Pole #11.

7:02 p.m. – Millis woman called to report a strong chemical odor on North Meadows Road by West Street in Medfield. Officer and Fire Department notified. First responders reported it was coming from Sam Whites mulch pile. No problem reported.

8:28 p.m. – Caller reported her father was not feeling well and requested the ambulance to North Street. Patient was transported to Natick.

Friday, Dec. 2:

7:17 a.m. – Woman called Animal Control for a possible rabid raccoon on North Street.

4:53 p.m. – Woman came into the station to report a vehicle crash at North and Harding Streets with unknown personal injuries. At 5:08 p.m., a detective from the Wellesley Police Department radioed the station to also report the motor vehicle crash. Wellesley Police requested the ambulance for one female with personal injury. At 5:24 p.m., the ambulance was enroute to Norwood Hospital with the patient. Assured Collision towing responded and picked up two vehicles.

4:53 p.m. – Man called from his cell phone on North Meadows Road to report a man walking with a gun going south on North Meadows road from the Sherborn town line. Officer spoke with the hunter that just came out from the woods and was now on his way. No problem.

7:50 p.m. – Man called from his home on Pine Street to request an officer to check on a dog that has been barking for some time now on the street. He reported this has been an ongoing problem. Officer spoke with homeowner and dog is now inside the home for the night.

Saturday, Dec. 3:

7:10 a.m. – Desk officer from Millis Police Department called to request mutual aid by Medfield’s ambulance to Stoney Brook Drive apartments in Millis for a man with some cuts on his hands. Ambulance transported the patient to UMass Memorial.

8:12 a.m. – Woman from Flint Locke Lane called emergency 911 to request the ambulance to transport her to the hospital. She reported she was in a lot of back pain and could not move very well. Desk officer had no luck with Millis ambulance and notified Walpole, which sent an ambulance to the residence. Patient was transported to Needham Hospital.

9:52 a.m. – Man from Kenney Road called and requested to see an officer about a past break-in into his house. Officer spoke with the man and report was filed. A summons was also issued to a 17-year-old Medfield resident from Kenney Road on charges of unarmed burglary and receiving stolen property over $250.

12:57 p.m. – Man called from his cell phone on Noon Hill Road and Causeway Street to report there was trash all over the side of the road and he would like the Medfield Highway Department to pick it up if possible.

3:05 p.m. – Woman called emergency 911 from Pound Street to report she was with her son, age 45, was unresponsive and was half off of his bed. Officers, ambulance and Westwood medics were enroute and at 3:07 p.m., officer requested Medfield Police Chief Robert Meaney Jr., CPAC and MEs office be notified of a sudden death at the house. Medfield EMTs were out at the scene at 3:07 p.m. and cancelled Westwood paramedics. State Police were notified and enroute. Officers were clear of the scene at 5:39 p.m.

4:06 p.m. – Owner of U-Haul Company on 107 North Meadows Rd. called from Cape Cod to report she received a call about a white male trying to break into one of her storage bins at the U-Haul Company in town. The man was allegedly trying to break the lock with a large hammer. He was still at the scene at the time of the call. Sergeant and officer spoke with the woman who said the man may be from Chelmsford. The storage bin is his but he owes several months back rent and the manager has put a lock on the unit. Report was filed.

6:20 p.m. – EMT radioed the station to request the police. He had some kids running around on the roof of Jing’s Garden on North Meadows Road and they are around back of the building. Officers were out with the EMT and officer reported they checked the roof with no luck.

9:54 p.m. – Sergeant reported he was out on the railroad tracks with two kids. The location was at South and Elm Streets. At 9:55 p.m., Sergeant requested the ambulance on scene for one of the kids who had been drinking. Ambulance was enroute to Norwood Hospital with patient. At 10:12 p.m., detail officer requested officer at South Street for two kids who had been drinking. Officer reported he was coming into the station with the two kids so they can call for a ride home. Officer spoke with the parents. Report was filed.

Sunday, Dec. 4:

1:26 p.m. – Woman from Adams Street called to request the police because they are having a problem with their 18-year-old son. Sergeant and officer reported peace was restored upon arrival.

5:53 p.m. – Woman called emergency 911 from Cross Street to report some food in her oven was on fire. Box alarm was struck and fire and police were notified. At 5:55 p.m., woman called back to report the fire was out. Fire Chief William Kingsbury was notified and all units were clear.

6:32 p.m.  – 911 reports fire alarm at residence on Nebo Street. Box alarm struck and fire and police notified. Fire Chief William Kingsbury reported the fireplace flue was closed.

Monday, Dec. 5:

7:13 a.m. – Minor motor vehicle accident reported on West Street at the American Legion. Officer assisting and reported no tow was needed.
