Medfield Police Logs: Nov. 14-21: Walpole Man Arrested, Larceny at Salon and Reports of False Soliciting

Highlights from Medfield police and fire logs.

Monday, Nov. 14:

7:57 a.m. – Desk officer from the Sherborn Police Department called to report he received a call from a motorist about a possible drunk driver that might be coming into Medfield on Route 27. Officer checked with no luck.

10:35 a.m. – Woman from Mohave Road called emergency 911 to request the ambulance for her husband, who may be having heart problems. Ambulance transported patient to Norwood Hospital.

1:43 p.m. – Medfield Police officer reported he was out on High Street at the Walpole town line on Route 27 checking on a man walking. Officer reported there was a warrant out of this man’s arrest from the Walpole Police Department and he would be taking him into the Medfield station. Andre M. Moran, 23 of 31 Hitching Post Dr., Walpole was charged on a warrant for receiving stolen property over $250. Desk officer placed a locate on the warrant and Moran was placed in a cell. Bail commissioner reported there was no bail on Moran, who was asked if he would like dinner and he said “no.” Moran told an officer he was having chest pains and sergeant requested Medfield’s EMTs, who were on scene. The EMTs requested the events paramedics on scene. Paramedics and Medfield ambulance transported Moran to Norwood Hospital. At 10:42 p.m., officers returned to the station with Moran.

5:10 p.m. – Man called from his cell phone on Main Street to report he believed he hit a deer. Officer spoke to the man and filed a report.

9:38 p.m. – Woman from Tallwood Drive called emergency 911 to request the police and ambulance remove her teenage son from the house and transport him to the hospital. The son is high on drugs. Ambulance transported patient to Norwood Hospital.

Tuesday, Nov. 15:

10:14 a.m. – Individual from Spruce Way called and requested to see an officer about some annoying and harassing phone calls. Officer spoke with the individual and filed a report.

6:14 p.m. – EMT reported they received a call about a strong smell of gas in the street on Hickory Drive. They checked it out and EMT confirmed there was a strong smell of gas. Columbia Gas was notified and reported estimated time of arrival would be half an hour. EMT reported they would standby with the ambulance. Columbia Gas arrived 6:56 p.m. and at 17:12 p.m. reported the residence on Hickory Drive had a “very small” gas leak underground from a box and it is OK for now. EMT and Columbia Gas cleared the scene.

8:06 p.m. – Woman called from Bullards Market on North Street to request the Animal Control officer for a yellow lab dog that needed to be picked up. Animal Control notified and returned the dog to the dog’s owner.

Wednesday, Nov. 16:

12:23 a.m. – Woman called from Main Street to request the ambulance because she took some cough medicine and was having a reaction. Ambulance and police were notified. No transport was necessary.

7:02 a.m. – Man from Algonquin Road called to report some time over night someone took his trash from in front of his house and dumped it all over his vehicle and the street. There was no damage to the vehicle and he would pick up the trash. Man would like the police to keep an extra eye on the area.

11 a.m. – Woman from 16 Spruce Way called to request the Animal Control officer for a sick raccoon in a tree. Animal Control was notified and reported no problem with the raccoon upon arrival. Woman reported the raccoon came out of the tree and Animal Control put the raccoon down and removed it.

3:44 p.m.  – Woman called emergency 911 fro the Thomas Upham House on Main Street to request the ambulance. A patient there had fallen out of her wheelchair and hit her head. Ambulance transported patient to LM Hospital.

10:33 p.m. – Cell caller from Hartford Street reported a large tree branch blocking half the road on Hartford Street past Rocky Woods.

Thursday, Nov. 17:

10:35 a.m. – Man from Sturbridge Road called to report he had an older white male in his 50s or 60s with a blue jacket on at his front door, looking for money for the Firefighters’ Association. Caller gave Medfield Police the man’s phone number and officer spoke with the caller and reported he would e in the area looking for the man. It was unknown if he had a vehicle.

12:04 p.m. – Woman from Pleasant Street called to report her friend called her to report when she was walking home in the area of Miller Street and Oak Street, she saw between two houses on Oak Street that there was a man fighting and yelling in a tan-colored house with a porch on the back of it. After a long talk with the caller, police got the reporting party’s name and phone number. Desk officer then called woman and she said she did not want to be involved nor wanted to see an officer. Officer finally spoke with male party allegedly fighting and yelling in a house. He said he was yelling at his dog.

4 p.m. – Employee from Phillip Depalma Salons on Main Street reported a customer walked out without paying (larceny). She said she was going to the bank to get some money. Officer spoke to the caller.

10:53 p.m. – Cell caller from Pleasant Street reported her mother passed out in the hallway and she would like an ambulance. Patient was transported to Norwood Hospital.

Friday, Nov. 18:

6:08 a.m. – Caller reported she could hear gunshots in the area of Bridge Street. Officer notified and spoke to the caller. The gunshots are coming from the Millis area and could possibly be hunters.

9:11 a.m. – Caller reported she had a man at the door on Sturbridge Road saying he was collecting (money) for the fire department. No collections were taking place in town and officer spoke to the caller. A second officer checked the area and reported a blue sedan with two older men in it.

9:37 a.m. – Caller from Kenney Road reported a squirrel in her house.

11:58 a.m. – Caller requested the Animal Control officer to Kenney Road as she may have another squirrel in her house.

4:36 p.m. – Officer was out on Route 27 at the Highway Department for traffic enforcement detail and issued two citations.

10:23 p.m. – 911 caller reported he would like the ambulance for his mother who was not feeling well. Ambulance notified and was enroute to Newton Wellesley Hospital with patient.

Saturday, Nov. 19:

8:07 a.m. – Caller reported an injured deer on his property on Granite Street. Animal Control notified. Deer ran off into the woods.

1:39 p.m. – Caller reported an injured dog. Animal Control was notified. Medfield Police officer found the animal and Animal Control reported it was an injured coyote. Animal Control put the coyote down.

2:09 p.m. – A 21-year-old Boston resident was issued a summons on charges of operating after revocation of registration, uninsured motor vehicle and operating motor vehicle with suspended license after a motor vehicle stop on Main Street.

2:41 p.m. – Caller reported a sick skunk in her yard. Animal Control notified.

6:57 p.m. – Cell caller reported he hit a deer on Main and Pound Streets. Animal Control notified. Officer reported deer was across from a Main Street residence. Highway Department notified to pick it up.

Sunday, Nov. 20:

4:55 a.m. – Woman from Blacksmith Drive called to report she had received a text message from her daughter who was at home saying she thought somebody was in the house. The woman’s husband is home but the daughter is afraid to leave her bedroom. Officers notified and responded. They talked to the father and he would like Animal Control for a squirrel in the house.

9:44 a.m. – Woman called to report she was walking her dog at Hinkley Pond on Green Street when another dog ran up and bit her dog. She said she knows where the other dog lives on Green Street. Animal Control would call and speak to the woman.

9:46 a.m. – Caller reported a dog running in and out of traffic on Main Street. Officer notified.

11:37 a.m. – Man from the Memorial School reported the alarm at the school had been tampered with and said he could not turn the alarm on. Police would do extra patrols of the school.

12:52 p.m. – Caller on Evergreen Way reported construction on Harding Street as a noise complaint. Officer spoke to the contractor to stop the work and they would stop and come back during the workweek.

3:04 p.m.  – Caller reported an injured deer in her backyard. Desk officer notified Animal Control, who reported the deer ran off.

3:36 p.m. – Caller via 911 State Police transfer reported she would like her husband removed from her apartment at Wilkens Glen Road. He would not leave. She will be outside waiting for the police. Officers notified and reported man left the apartment.

Monday, Nov. 21:

9:28 a.m. – Individual from Johns Avenue walked into the station to speak to an officer about a fraud case. Officer notified and filed a report
