Medfield Police Logs: June 2-11

Highlights from Medfield police and fire logs.

Thursday, June 2:

2:44 p.m. – Caller reported a motor vehicle accident near Citizen’s Bank on Main Street with no personal injury. Sergeant John Mayer responded.

3:52 p.m. – Individual came in the station to speak to officer Robert Flaherty in regard to an item he bought from Craigslist.

3:54 p.m. – Caller reported a tree was on fire and still smoldering at the Medfield State Hospital site. Fire Department was notified and will respond.

4:12 p.m. – Caller from Cutler Farm on North Street requested the ambulance for a rider thrown from a horse. Patient was transported to Glover Hospital.

4:14 p.m. – Caller reported boys on ATVs on Morse Drive making noise and running up and down. Officer spoke to some boys playing basketball and they said no one was around.

5:45 p.m. – Individual came into the station to speak to Sergeant Burgess in regard to his 15-year-old son.

10:47 p.m. – Individual came into the station t report he hit a fox on Route 27 near Dale Street. He said it was on the center line. Highway Department picked it up the next morning.

Friday, June 3:

12:02 p.m. – Caller reported house fire on High Street. Fire alarm sounded and Medfield Fire Chief William Kingsbury reported a kitchen fire. Walpole Fire Department notified and Millis Fire Department responded to cover Medfield Fire Station. Kingsbury reported fire was knocked down. Sergeant Ray Burton requested two additional officers for traffic coverage. Walpole Fire Department was clear of the scene at 1:06 p.m. Fire was called in by a Rhode Island driver.

12:40 p.m. – Caller reported no detour signs on High Street and did not know where to go. Road was detoured because of the house fire on High Street.

1:10 p.m. – Woman came into the station to report she hit a dog on Route 109. Animal Control Officer notified.

1:36 p.m. – Caller reported his motor vehicle was parked in the lot at the Kingsbury Club and officer Michelle Bento responded to view the damage to vehicle. Man called back to report his other two tires were leaking air.

1:40 p.m. – Caller reported she had a stray dog in her yard and left a message for the Animal Control Officer.

2:23 p.m. – Man came into the station to report a truck took down a wire on Janes Avenue. Fire Department notified and responded and wire had to be cut and tied up. It was a phone wire.

2:58 p.m. – Man came into the station to report he backed into a car in the parking lot of Citizen’s Bank. Nobody was around and he did not see any damage. His info was at the desk if anyone calls. The car he hit was a black Lexus SUV.

4:27 p.m.  –Caller reported the left turn arrow on Route 109 and Route 27 was not working. Caller called back and reported lights were back and working.

5:04 p.m. – Caller reported a car parked on her property on the grass at Pondview Ave. Officer spoke to caller and reported no problem.

5:47 p.m. – Caller from Oak Street reported his mother had passed away and said his mother was under hospice care. Hospice responded at 6:30 p.m. and handled the situation.

8:20 p.m.  – Caller from Flint Locke Lane reported her husband hurt his hip and she wanted an ambulance for him. Patient was transported to LM Hospital.

8:22 p.m. – Lifeline reported they would like an ambulance to go to Pound Street for an 82-year-old female with chest pains. Millis Ambulance responded and transported patient to Framingham Union Hospital.

8:52 p.m. – Officer will be out at the swim pond at Green Street with a car that was parked in the lot. Officer reported it was a Highway Department worker and they will be at the pond all weekend because they are draining the pond.

9:47 p.m. – Caller reported a large truck parked at Lovell’s in their lot, she was very upset with it being parked there and said it was not a truck stop. Officer notified and checked out situation. Officer reported the situation was clear and the woman said she will take the issue up with the selectmen after sergeant Ray Burton told her Medfield Police had no right to tell the driver to move the truck.

Saturday, June 4:

12:36 a.m. – Officer reported she found a large instrument next to the rear door of the high school. She brought it to the station.

8:12 a.m. – Caller reported his guest, a 79-year-old male was dizzy and not feeling well. Ambulance responded to Emerson Road and transported patient to Needham.

9:02 a.m. – Caller from Main Street reported she had a rabbit nest in her yard and was concerned. Animal Control notified.

12:44 p.m. – Man came into the station to report a credit card he found in the parking lot at Papa Gino’s. Card was placed in the lost and found box with the call number.

12:58 p.m. – Caller reported in the area of Harding Street and Marlyn Road that there was a drop in the road where the highway department was working earlier in the week. Bob Kennedy Jr. was notified.

3:45 p.m. – Individual from Erik Road reported a parking complaint as neighbors’ cars were blocking the woman’s driveway. Sergeant John Mayer responded and reported there were no cars blocking the driveway. Peace was restored between neighbors.

9:09 p.m. – Caller reported white older car driving on the wrong side of the road between North Meadows Road and Harding Street.

9:12 p.m. – Caller reported a large group causing a disturbance at Wheelock School. Officer responded and reported group was removed.

9:54 p.m. – Individual came into the station to report a fox was going up to people in front of Papa Gino’s on North Meadow Road. Message was left for Animal Control Officer.

Sunday, June 5:

12:02 a.m. – Lifeline reported they needed an ambulance sent to Wilkens Glen Road. Patient was transported to Norwood Hospital.

1:02 p.m. – Woman called from her cell phone to request the ambulance at Norfolk Hunt Club fields at 240 North St. for a woman who had fallen from a horse and hurt her hip. EMT Rogers reported no transport needed at 1:19 p.m.

2:02 p.m. – EMT Rogers radioed the station to report they were enroute with the ambulance for a medical incident at 1 Bishop Ln. EMT Rogers reported no transport.

3:11 p.m. – Woman called from her home on Curve St. to report small kids that are playing on the railroad tracks. Officer John Geary reported a check of the area but the kids were gone on arrival.

7:34 p.m. – Woman of Hillcrest Road called from her cell phone to report she and a friend of hers were out for a walk and her ex-husband was following them in his pickup truck and there was a disturbance going on between the two in the street. Sergeant Wilhelmi, Burton and officer Geary were out with the three at the corner of Hillcrest and Ledgetree Roads. Sergeant Burton reported peace had been restored.

9:48 p.m. – Sergeant Ray Burton reported he will do a report on suspicious activity on West Mill Street by the railroad tracks.

Monday, June 6:

12:46 a.m. – Woman from Willow Circle called emergency 911to report someone rang her door bell and set off fire works in the driveway. Officer responded but reported gone on arrival.

10:12 a.m. – Fire dispatch reported an injured deer in the area of 46 Adams St. Animal Control Officer notified.

2:54 p.m. – Woman from Bellingham called from her cell phone to report she was out hiking when she found some needles by the railroad tracks off Main Street. The area would be beside Citizens Bank. EMTs Bennotti and Kingsbury were notified. The EMTs picked up the needles. Officer Larz Anderson spoke to EMTs.

4:43 p.m. – Sharon Woodworth, Orchestra director of the Blake Middle School and Medfield High School, came into the station to pick up the upright bass musical instrument.

5:37 p.m. – A worker from Shaw’s Market on Main Street called emergency 911 to request the ambulance for an individual, who passed out at the front door of the store. EMT Kingsbury reported there was no transport.

5:47 p.m. – Woman from Brook Street called emergency 911 to request the ambulance for her mother, age 83, who was having chest pains. Patient was transported to Norwood Hospital.

Tuesday, June 7:

9:55 a.m. – Desk officer received “a very large number” of calls about a water main break on Main Street on Route 109 near the Millis town line. David O’Toole notified and responded ASAP to area. David O’Toole requested a detail officer ASAP at 10 a.m.

4:15 p.m. – Caller requested the Animal Control Office for an animal in the chimney at a Bayberry Road residence.

4:20 p.m. – Caller requested the ambulance for chest pains at the Thomas Upham House on Main Street. Ambulance transported patient to Norwood Hospital.

5:01 p.m.  – Caller and officer Bento reported UPS truck backed into motor vehicle at the rear of Lord’s Department Store on South Street. Information exchanged.

Wednesday, June 8:

7:51 a.m. – Man called from his cell phone to report a motor vehicle crash with injuries on Main Street between the Gulf gas station and Shaw’s Market. He requested help ASAP. Ambulance responded and was enroute to Norwood Hospital with patient. Scene was cleared at 8:15 a.m.

10:41 a.m. – Officer Anderson reported he was on radar at 97 West St. and issued one citation.

11 a.m. – Officer Grover reported he was out doing radar at Main Street and Pound Street and issued zero citations.

12:54 p.m. – Sergeant Wilhelmi was doing radar at Spring Street and Pine Grove Road and issued two citations.

1:58 p.m. – Officer Anderson reported he was out doing radar at 160 North St. and issued one citation.

4:32 p.m. – Individual came into the station to speak to an officer regarding fraud.

5:50 p.m. – Fire Department reported it checked out a troubled alarm at the Noon Hill Grill.

6:22 p.m. – Sergeant Mayer reported earlier motor vehicle needed towing.

7:33 p.m. – Girl came into the station with a phone she found in a field on Pine Street.

7:40 p.m. – Officer O’Neil on traffic enforcement on Pound and South Streets issued two citations.

Thursday, June 9:

12:37 a.m. – Caller reported a group of kids at the end of Longmeadow Road hanging out and he would like them removed.

6:55 a.m. – Caller reported a large, dead turtle in the road. Highway Department notified to pick it up.

9:04 a.m. – Caller reported a motor vehicle accident and wanted an officer to report. Officer reported information was exchanged and no damage.

9:52 a.m. – Caller requested the ambulance for a man who had fallen at Flint Locke Lane. Ambulance transported patient to Norwood Hospital.

9:59 a.m. – Man in the station reported a large turtle on North Meadows Road. Animal Control Officer notified.

11:04 a.m. – Caller reported a truck hit a motor vehicle on Main Street and did not stop. Officers checked the area and notified Walpole Police and Millis Police. Witness was in the station. A 25-year-old Hartford, Conn. Resident was issued a summons for leaving the scene of property damage.

2:25 p.m. – A caller reported a large bag of trash in the road. Highway Department notified.

4:07 p.m. – Caller reported her friend was involved in a motor vehicle accident in front of Subway of Main Street. Sergeant Burton requested an accident number.

4:47 p.m. – Officer James O’Neil was out with a motor vehicle stop on Main and Spring Streets. Vehicle came back revoked for insurance and Assured Collision towing was notified. Assured Collision reported it had vehicle and officers were cleared. A 24-year-old Marlborough resident was issued a summons for operating after revocation of registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

5:28 p.m. – Caller reported a large cardboard box in the road on Main Street by the Westwood line.

9:33 p.m. – Caller reported her mailbox was just hit by a group of kids and they were headed towards Dover. Dover Police notified. Officers reported gone on arrival.

Friday, June 10:

8:03 a.m. – Caller requested an officer because someone slashed his tires at Adams Street. Officer spoke to the caller and viewed the damage.

8:25 a.m. – Officer Sallale on a motor vehicle stop at South Street issued a citation.

2:16 p.m. – Caller reported she had a chipmunk stuck in her bird feeder at Pondview Road. Animal Control Officer notified.

3:07 p.m. – Man from Green Street walked into the station to report he was working at the baseball field on Dale Street. He was parked where the buses pick up the children and was stopped when one of the bus drivers requested him to leave and one of the other bus drivers spoke to him and took down his plate.

4:02 p.m. – Man called from Zebra’s on North Street to request an officer for a group of skate boarders on the loading dock. Officer notified and responded. Officer spoke to manager, who will post signs.

4:09 p.m. – Officer James O’Neil reported he was on radar on Main and Pound Streets and issued three citations.

4:09 p.m. – Woman reported a dog on Hartford Street walking in the middle of the street. Animal Control Officer notified. Reported dog was gone on arrival.

4:30 p.m. – Woman from Belknap Road reported she had a bird in her yard that cannot fly. Animal Control Officer notified.

10:35 p.m. – Emergency 911 caller reported an erratic driver on Route 109 in Millis heading toward the Medfield. Officer notified and reported no problem with driver or vehicle.

Saturday, June 11:

1:08 a.m.- Caller reported teenagers in the area of Harding Street and Kaymark Drive making noise. Officers dispatched to area and reported cars leaving the area as he was approaching.

1:29 a.m. – Caller reported a car hit something – a tree or pole and kept on going. Vehicle had a flat tire. Westwood and Dover Police notified. All cars were in the are looking for the vehicle that was last seen on Main Street. Vehicle was gone on arrival.

10:03 a.m. – Officer Wayne Sallale reported he was out in the parking lot of Papa Ginos with a minor motor vehicle accident.
