Medfield Police Logs: July 18-25

Highlights from Medfield police and fire logs.

Monday, July 18:

9:58 a.m.  – A home health aid called from South Street for an ambulance for a  91-year-old woman with a possible stroke. Patient transported to Norwood Hospital.

10:57 a.m. – Caller reported a dead animal in the road near his house on Pound Street. Desk officer Animal Control officer Jennifer Shaw, who handled the situation.

11:32 a.m. – Animal Control officer Jennifer Shaw reported she was enroute to Harding Street near Longmeadow Road for a loose German Sheperd. At 11:51 a.m., officer Shaw reported dog was gone on arrival.

1 p.m. – Officer was out doing radar on Route 27 at Granite and High Streets and reported no citations.

3:47 p.m.  – Report of a minor motor vehicle accident by Lord’s Department Store came into the station. There was no personal injury and officer Stephen Grover handled the investigation.

6:14 p.m.  – Request for an ambulance at Roberts Mitchell on Miller Street for a woman who fell and hurt her leg.

 6:24 p.m. – Medfield Fire reported a minor motor vehicle accident on Hartford and Main Streets but Medfield Police reported vehicles were gone on arrival.

Tuesday, July 19:

5:26 a.m. – Officer reported he was out on Route 27 at Granite Street doing radar and issued one citation.

8:52 a.m. – Detail officer radioed to station to report a motorist requested him to do a well being check on a man that may be just sleeping in his car parked in the CVS parking lot. Sergeant Wilhelmi and officer Anderson checked the area but reported vehicle was gone on arrival.

9:35 a.m.  – Man from Fairview Road came into the station and requested to speak with an officer about a problem his three boys are having with his ex-wife. Officer Larz Anderson spoke with man and his three children.

10:20 a.m.  – Sergeant John Wilhelmi was out doing radar on North Street and Deerfield Drive and issued two citations.

3:41 p.m.  – Fire Department reported a disabled motor vehicle at North and Main Streets. Officer reported the motor vehicle was out of gas and the driver had returned. Motor vehicle went on its way.

4:23 p.m. – Officer O’Neil was out on a motor vehicle stop on Main Street and issued a citation.

6:01 p.m. – Officer O’Neil reported he was out on Pleasant Street with an unregistered dirt bike and requested the station to call parents and to respond and pick up the bike. Parents were notified.

6:47 p.m. – Caller reported she had some baby possums at Copperwood Road. Animal Control officer was notified and reported the mother possum was dead. She removed the babies and would bring them to Tufts on Wednesday.

7:02 p.m. – Caller reported a motor vehicle had been parked in the rear lot for several weeks and officer reported it was private property. The plate on the vehicle had expired.

7:04 p.m. – Woman from Tamarack Road reported her husband refused to drop off their children and came into the station to speak with an officer. Officers responded to Tamarack Road to speak to the mother and officers went to Fairview to speak to the father.

7:15 p.m. – Man came into the station to report between the transfer station and the turn for Hospital Road that he saw some syringes on the side of the road. Sergeant Burgess reported they found one item and they will handle disposal.

7:43 p.m. – Officer O’Neil reported he was on traffic enforcement at Oak and Pleasant Streets and issued three citations. He also requested a tow and Assured Collision responded at 9:14 p.m.

Wednesday, July 20:

1:42 a.m. – Caller reported he heard about 12 gun shots in the are of 274 South St. and officers were notified. Caller from Pilgrim Lane reported they had heard gun shots as well. Officers reported all was quiet when they arrived. At 8:46 a.m. a female caller from South Street reported the same and the desk officer noted it in the logs.

5:57 a.m. – Individual came into the station to report while she was out walking near Remsen Avenue, she reported smoke coming from the chimney of a house and the desk officer notified the Fire Department, which reported it would check it out. Officer reported scene was clear.

8:18 a.m. – Woman from Johns Avenue called to request the Animal Control Officer because she had an injured bird and wanted it removed. Animal Control officer Shaw was notified.

8:45 a.m. – Officer Grover reported he was out in front of 401 Main St. with a tractor trailer that had smoke coming from it. Officer Grover reported all parties clear and the truck was on its way.

11:25 a.m.  – Man called from Whichita Road to report a suspicious vehicle parked behind his house. Officer Grover checked area and reported he spoke to vehicle owner, who removed the car.

12:54 p.m. – Captain David O’Toole called from his radio to report a motor vehicle crash with minor personal injury at North and Green Streets. He requested the EMTs and Medfield Ambulance was enroute to the scene. Officer Larz Anderson requested two wreckers at the scene and desk officer notified Assured Collision.

12:56 p.m. – Man called from his cell phone to request the ambulance on Main and Park Streets for a boy who fell off his bike and injured himself. Millis Ambulance was notified at 12:56 p.m. and enroute to scene. At 1:17 p.m. Millis Ambulance had patient and transported him to Norwood Hospital.

1:40 p.m.  – Desk officer from Walpole Police Deparment called to request a free Medfield Police officer to have them look out for a male and female driving an orange Mercedes Benz with New York plates. They had an armed robbery around 12:45 p.m. on Route 1 by the Foxborough town line and unknown weapon was used in the robbery. At 2:30 p.m. Medfield officers were clear of Route 27 and area with no luck locating vehicle.

4:05 p.m. – Caller requested an ambulance to Town Hall for an unknown medical. Ambulance was enroute to Newton Wellesley.

4:36 p.m.  –Officer O’Neil was on a traffic stop at Elm and South Streets and issued a citation.

5:30 p.m. – Individual came into the station to request extra drive bys on Wood End Lane for the next two days.

6:19 p.m.  – Caller reported leaving their house locked and on their return the garage door was open. Requested an officer to do a house check. Officers O’Neil and Flaherty reported the house was secure.

7:38 p.m. – Officer O’Neil was on a motor vehicle stop on Main Street and reported he was following vehicle back to their residence on Pine Street in Dover.

8:47 p.m. - Millis requested mutual aid with the ambulance. Millis requested medics from Norfolk as Medfield was unavailable. Medfield Ambulance enroute to Norwood Hospital.

9:37 p.m.  – Officer O’Neil reported he was checking on some youths in a car at Hinkley Pond. Citation issued.

Thursday, July 21:

7:42 a.m.  – Caller reported a motor vehicle accident with no personal injury on Main Street. Officer requested a tow and Assured Collision notified and would respond.

7:36 p.m.  – Caller from Millis requested a well being check for her friend at Stagecoach Road, who reportedly said she was going to harm herself and the dog. Officers reported all doors were locked and the ambulance will be assisting them in getting into the house. Officers stood by until her friend (the caller) arrived. Officer reported woman was OK and there was no problem.

Friday, July 22:

6:37 a.m. - Caller reported she hit a deer on High Street. Animal Control officer Jennifer Shaw notified. Deer was still alive when officer Pellegrini reported to the scene and he put the deer down. Highway Department will pick up the deer.

7:34 a.m.  – Caller reported he was just bitten by a dog on the leg at Pine Street and requested Animal Control.

8:43 a.m.  – Animal Control officer Jennifer Shaw reported to Loeffler Lane regarding loose dogs.

9:15 a.m.  – Officer Wayne Sallale reported a red alarm light on the water tank on Hospital Road. Highway Department notified and will notify water department.

9:26 a.m. – Young man in the station with a phone he found Thursday at Wheelock School.

9:50 a.m. – Caller reported a bat in the bathroom on Main Street and Animal Control responded.

10:12 a.m. – Officer Wayne Sallale reported he was on traffic duty doing radar on North Street and issued two verbal warnings.

1:59 p.m.  – Millis Police Department requested mutual aid from Medfield Fire Department for working fire at Glen Ellen Country Club in Millis. Box alarm struck.

4:03 p.m. – Caller reported a 13 or 14-year-old boy on a bike talking to an older man who had his wallet out on Route 109 at the Millis town line. Officer checked the are and reported all was OK, the boy was talking to his father.

7:27 p.m. – Caller reported a strange silver small car in the area of Bunker Road. She reported a white male got out of the car and went to the trunk and then got back into the car. Also, she believed she saw an open can of beer. Officer spoke to caller.

9:06 p.m. – Caller reported she would like an ambulance for her husband, who had a nose bleed. Millis Ambulance notified and transported patient to Norwood Hospital.

10:10 p.m. – Caller reported next to her house on Green Street is a new house being built. She heard men’s voices coming from that house. Officer Pellegrini checked the area and reported all was OK.

10:49 p.m. – 911 caller reported her 11-year-old nephew stuck his finger with an EPI pen at Pleasant Street and would like the EMTs to check him out. Ambulance responded and reported no transport to hospital.

11:21 p.m.  – Caller reported a smell of smoke n the area of Cheney Pond Road. Officer reported nothing found.

Saturday, July 23:

1:10 a.m. -  Individual came into the station to report on the way home from work, she was on Route 138 in Canton and she thought a red pickup truck was following her. She did not get a plate or make of the truck but wanted it noted.

11:07 a.m. – Woman at Trailside Road called to report she thought someone hit a dog at the end of her driveway. Man got out of his car, walked around and got back in and drove off. Woman did not want to look at the dog if it was hit. Officer Michelle Bento checked the area for the dog with no luck.

12:46 p.m. – individual called 911 from Cypress Street to request the ambulance for her husband, who was having chest pains. Westwood paramedics were notified and enroute. Ambulance was enroute to Norwood Hospital with patient.

3:04 p.m. – Woman called emergency 911 from Brook Street to request the ambulance for her mother, 84, who was having chest pains. Ambulance transported patient to Norwood Hospital.

Sunday, July 24:

12:12 a.m. – Millis Police Department called to request a car at Jay Williams Heights. The caller reported a female screaming and that she drives a black pickup truck. Officer and sergeant notified. Officer Thomas Hamano and Sergeant Burgess reported they spoke to the caller and all was quiet.

12:21 p.m. – Officer Jon Cave reported on traffic enforcement on Main Street at Bridge Street and issued no citations.

2:08 p.m. – Woman called from Natural Nail at 34 Park St. to report they just had a man in their building trying to sell meat without a permit. He was driving a blue Ford pickup truck with Maine plates. On the side of the truck said “Steak House Steaks.” At 2:11 p.m. Officer Michelle Bento was out with the man at 41 Park St. and reported she spoke with the man and told him he needs a permit from the Medfield Town Hall to sell.

2:12 p.m. – Woman from Copperwood Road called to request the Animal Control officer because she had a bat in her bedroom. The bat was in a closed room for now, according to the caller. Millis Animal Control notified and was responding but woman’s neighbor removed the bat and the call was canceled to Millis ACO.

7:20 p.m. – Sergeant Mayer reported he was out with a minor motor vehicle crash with no personal injury on Main Street by Cumberland Farms Gas Station.

Monday, July 25:

12:19 a.m. – CSX called to report a train broken down on Dale and Adams Street crossing. Sergeant Burton notified and reported at 12:37 a.m. the train was on its way.

2:14 a.m. – Lifeline called to report individual at Colonial Road needed assistance getting up.
