Medfield Police Logs, Dec. 19-27: Vandalism on Park Street, Hit Deer and Accident with Injury

Highlights from Medfield police and fire logs.

Monday, Dec. 19:

5:37 a.m. – Fire dispatch reported the fire alarm going off for an address on Janes Avenue. The Fire Department and police responded to the building and notified the key holder. Fire Department reported it was a sprinkler system problem.

6:35 a.m. – 911 caller reported she would like an ambulance for her father, who was light headed and had shortness of breath. Ambulance responded to Eastmount Road and transported patient to Norwood Hospital.

8:30 a.m. – Officer reported construction equipment was blocking the road on Pine Street. Sergeant reported equipment would be moved.

3:56 p.m. – Officer was out with a motor vehicle at the Hinkley Pond parking lot on Green Street. Officer reported a verbal disagreement between male and female. Officer reported both parties would be leaving the area and the scene was cleared.

4:50 p.m. – Caller from Ledgetree Road reported his wife, 83, was feeling dizzy and just recently had neck surgery. Ambulance and officer responded. Westwood paramedics also responded. Patient was transported to Norwood Hospital.

6:53 p.m. – Caller from Pound Street reported her husband was having a seizure. Ambulance, officer and EMS medics responded. Patient was transported to Norwood Hospital.

8:19 p.m. – A disturbance was reported on Colonial Road after a woman was struck by an individual. Officers responded and reported peace was restored.

8:36 p.m. – Several 911 calls came into the station for a head-on collision on Route 27 at Homestead Drive. Officers and ambulance responded to scene. Walpole Police sent a unit to assist as well. Officer reported no injuries and requested a tow truck. No individuals were transported to the hospital.

Tuesday, Dec. 20:

7:20 a.m. – Woman from Harding Street called to report a dog was hit by a vehicle. Officer and Animal Control were notified. Officer reported she searched the area for the dog with no luck.

12:17 p.m. – Medfield Fire Department reported they received a report of a stray dog on Grist Mill Road. Caller reported they had the dog in their custody. Animal Control officer notified.

Wednesday, Dec. 21:

6:30 a.m. – Man called to report he hit a deer on Spring Street. Officer notified.

11:29 a.m. – Caller reported a motor vehicle crash on South Street near Indian Hill Road. Officer on scene reported accident occurred in Norfolk.

5:07 p.m.  – Man from Cypress Street called to speak to an officer about someone following him around in their vehicle for the past week or so. Officer spoke to the man and report was filed.

7:33 p.m. – EMT reported they received a call about a fire alarm from a residence on Flint Locke Lane for smell of smoke in the house.

10 p.m. – Manager from Marshall’s on Main Street requested an officer to drive through the parking lot around 11 p.m. as that will be the store’s closing time for the next three nights.

Thursday, Dec. 22:

8:08 a.m. – Caller reported an injured rabbit in her yard on Gun Hill Road. Animal Control notified.

8:42 a.m.  – Caller reported someone took street sign from the end of Rhododendron Avenue. Highway Department notified.

1:14 p.m. – Caller from Park Street reported a heavy set male with a blue nap sack between the age of 14 to 16 years old just broke on of the windows in the building then ran down Park Street towards the center of town. Officers notified. At 1:44 p.m. officer reported he was out on Spring Street near the Irving station. At 1:56 p.m., officer reported he was enroute to High Street with two youths. A report was filed regarding this incident.  

3:25 p.m. – Caller reported a possible rabid skunk in the area of North Street. Animal Control notified and put the skunk down.

4:05 p.m. – Caller reported two loose manhole covers on Route 27 near Pondview Avenue. “They make a loud noise when cars go over them,” the caller said. Officer checked this out and reported nothing was found.

4:49 p.m. – Caller from Causeway Street reported she had been getting harassing phone calls. Officer was enroute to speak with individual.

4:54 p.m.  – Fire dispatch reported they had a call for a fire alarm on Minuteman Road. Box alarm was struck. All units were clear at 5:10 p.m.

5:44 p.m.  –Caller reported a motor vehicle crash on Route 109 Main Street with no personal injuries. Officer reported one tow truck needed. Fire Department was notified about fluid in the road.

7:05 p.m. – Caller from Pine Street reported dog at Pine Street was barking for awhile and this has happened in the past. Officer checked the area and reported upon his arrival, there was a dog barking but he was not able to see where it was. He hard somebody yell at the dog and it stopped.

8:45 p.m. – Caller reported he hit a deer on Harding Street near Hospital Road. The deer was on the side of the road. Officer reported he had to put the deer down.

11:46 p.m. – Fire cruisers responded to a fire alarm activation at Medfield Public Library.

Friday, Dec. 23:

12:12 a.m. – Caller reported odor of gasoline in the basement on Pueblo Road. Engine 1 and 80 responded.

8:01 a.m. – Man called to report he thought a water main break occurred on Indian Hill Road. Officer notified Robert Kennedy Jr.

4:47 p.m. – Caller from High Street reported he hit a deer and needed a tow truck. Animal Control notified. Officer reported he put the deer down with one shot.

Saturday, Dec. 24:

3:52 p.m. – Caller from West Street reported a loose Husky type dog running around. Animal Control notified.

11:54 p.m. – Caller reported he heard a loud crash and now he can hear a horn blowing in the area of South Street and Noon Hill Road. Officers notified and another call came in about this motor vehicle accident on Noon Hill Road with personal injury. At 12:04 a.m., Walpole emergency unit was notified and enroute. At 12:15 a.m., Walpole emergency unit was cancelled. At 12:25 a.m., Millis Fire was notified for use of their ambulance. Ambulance was enroute to Norwood Hospital with patient. A 21-year-old East Walpole resident was issued a summons on charges of speeding and negligent operation of motor vehicle.

Sunday, Dec. 25:

6:51 a.m. – Caller from Spring Street reported he hit a deer and damaged his motor vehicle. Deer ran off.

9:03 a.m. – Caller from Blacksmith Drive reported a sick raccoon.

Monday, Dec. 26:

1:07 p.m. – Woman called from her cell phone to report a young boy riding his skateboard in the street at Harding Street and West Street. She does not want him to get hit by a vehicle. Officer checked the area but reported boy was not found.

3:14 p.m. – Woman called from Larkspur Lane to request Animal Control for a sick raccoon in her backyard.

Tuesday, Dec. 27:

6:42 a.m. – Transfer call from State Police reported he hit a dog and the dog is hurt on North Meadows Road and Hospital Road. Animal Control was notified and reported she had the dog and is taking it to the Walpole Vet.

12:07 p.m. – Woman from Pilgrim Lane called from out of state to report she had a lot of jewelry stolen from her house. Woman will be in the state of Illinois until Thursday. Officer spoke with woman on the phone.

3:22 p.m. – Sergeant reported he removed a large group of kids skateboarding on the loading dock of Zebra’s Bistro on North Street.
