Medfield Police Logs: Aug. 29 to Sept. 6

Highlights from Medfield police and fire logs.

Monday, Aug. 29:

8:07 a.m. – Officer served a summons in hand at Minuteman Road.

8:43 a.m.  – Officer reported a tree down in the wires on Philip Street by Elm Street. Medfield Highway Department and NSTAR notified.

9:19 a.m. – Woman riding her bike called from her cell phone on South Street and to request an officer to check on a possible disabled motor vehicle. Officer reported he was out with vehicle and notified Assured Collision towing, which picked up the vehicle.

10:14 a.m. – Man from Upham Road came into the station to report there was an injured duck and may have broken leg by the side of the dumpster. Animal Control was notified.

10:45 a.m. – Woman from Ledgetree Road called to request the ambulance for an older man, who had fallen down on the sidewalk in front of her house. The man had a cut on his head. EMT responded but reported no transport needed.

11:20 a.m. – Officer reported on the railroad tracks by Hospital Road a large tree down across the tracks. Desk officer notified CSX Railroad.

11:43 a.m. – Woman called from CVS to request the ambulance for a woman who was in the store and light headed. Woman requested to go to the hospital. Desk officer had no luck with Medfield or Walpole paramedics as both agencies were working on calls in the area. Ambulance was enroute at 11:54 a.m. to Norwood Hospital with patient.

12:20 p.m. – Man called to request the ambulance at Pleasant Court for a man who was a bad diabetic and may have been having a reaction. Caller would like the man transported to the hospital. Fire Chief William Kingsbury requested the Walpole paramedic/ambulance, which was enroute at 12:21 p.m. Walpole ambulance transported the patient to Norwood Hospital at 12:49 p.m.

1:17 p.m. – Woman called emergency 911 from Medfield Properties to request the police for a two-car crash on North Street with no personal injuries. Sergeant Burton requested Assured Collision towing for both vehicles. Medfield Fire was requested for an oil spill. All were clear of the scene at 1:50 p.m.

1:22 p.m. – Man called from his cell phone on Spring Street to report a tree hanging over the road and split between two houses. Ed Hinkley notified.

2:15 p.m. – Woman called from Stoney Brook Road to request the Animal Control officer because she had a dog to be picked up. Animal Control took the dog to its Acorn Circle home.

4:57 p.m. – Robert Kennedy Jr. called to report someone had cut a tree down and it is across the road going between Dale Street and the Medfield Highway Department. Officer reported the tree came from Thomas Clewes Road. Ed Hinkley and the highway department will remove the tree.

6:57 p.m. – Desk officer received a very large number of emergency 911 calls and in-house calls as well as people coming into the station to report a wire and ground fire across from Lovell’s Flowers and Nursery. There were also reports of power out on the east side of Medfield. Medfield Fire Department called NSTAR about the pole.

6:57 p.m. – Man called from Bridge Street to report a tree came down and into the road. Medfield Fire was notified.

8:03 p.m.  – Man called from his cell phone on North Meadows Road and West Street to report a three-car motor vehicle crash with personal injuries. Medfield ambulance and Medfield Fire were notified and enroute. Ambulance was enroute to Norwood Hospital with patient at 8:22 p.m. Officer requested three tow trucks. All were clear at 9:05 p.m.

10:38 p.m. – Man called from High Street to report a loud party on Turner Hill Road. Officer notified and reported no party or loud noise.

Tuesday, Aug. 30:

12:48 a.m. – Man called from Philip Street to report a group of kids at the high school making a lot of noise. Officer notified and reported kids were gone on arrival. Officer reported boiler light was on and a strong smell of gas in the area. Officer requested gas company be notified in the morning. At 6:35 a.m. Columbia Gas Company was notified and would be on scene in one-hour. At 10:54 a.m. officer spoke to gas company, which reported a gas leak on the roof of the high school.

2:37 a.m. – Man from Whichita Road called emergency 911 to report he heard three gunshots in the area. Also reported when he was on the phone with desk officer he heard two more. Officer reported he was out with a motor vehicle that had its lights on. Sergeant Burgess reported Norfolk in the area checking on a call about smashed mailboxes. Officer reported she had a smashed mailbox at Shawnee Road. Officer reported she checked the area but found nothing.

5:24 a.m. – Man reported he heard a loud bang and then his power went out. Officer responded and reported it was a tree crew – they hit a wire and contacted NSTAR.

8:58 a.m. – Several women came into the station concerned about low hanging wires on Dale Street. Bob Kennedy Jr. notified and would put up road-closed signs.

9:55 a.m. – Woman called to report a hit deer on North Street. Officer and Animal Control officer notified. Officer reported deer was gone on arrival.

12:12 p.m. – Woman called emergency 911 to report smoke in her house on Marlyn Road.

1:39 p.m. – Man called from Indian Hill Road to report down wires in his driveway and not sure what kind of wires they are. Officer notified and reported they are telephone and cable wires.

3:55 p.m. – Caller reported two girls in a canoe on Kingsbury Pond. One looked like she jumped out. Officer responded and reported no problem with the girls in the canoe.

6:27 p.m.  – Caller reported she lost power again on Bridlefield Lane. Desk officer notified NSTAR. They reported they are working in the area again repairing lines.

Wednesday, Aug. 31:

6:28 a.m. – Caller reported he still has no power on Penobscot Street and there is also no power on Indian Hill Road. NSTAR notified and they reported they would look into it.

7:55 a.m. – Life Line called for an emergency unit to respond to Colonial Road to assist a person that had fallen down.

9:02 a.m.  – Caller reported a large branch at Harding and West Streets. Highway Department notified.

9:26 a.m. – Animal Control dispatched to Pine Street for a squirrel in the house. Animal Control reported it removed the squirrel.

4:39 p.m. – Sergeant reported he was on radar at Pound Street and issued two citations.

4:46 p.m. – woman came into the station to report her motor vehicle was hit and damaged while in the parking lot of Citizen’s Bank. Officer viewed the damage.

5:01 p.m.  – Sergeant was on Hartford Street doing radar and reported no citations.

6:36 p.m.  – Caller reported dirt bikes in the rear of Wheelock School. Officer reported area was checked and dirt bikes were gone on arrival.

7:58 p.m. – Caller requested the Animal Control for a bat in the house on Saw Mill Lane. Animal Control notified and second call came in that bat may have left the house. Animal Control was on the phone with the caller.

8:46 p.m. – Officer pulled over motor vehicle on Robert Sproul Road and Main Street and issued a citation.

10:20 p.m. – Caller reported she had a bat in her basement on Saw Mill Lane. She would like to speak to the Animal Control officer. Animal Control notified and she would call the woman. At 10:52 p.m., officer reported she put the bat outside.

Thursday, Sept. 1:

12:20 a.m. – 911 caller reported his wife fainted and he would like her checked out by the EMTs. No ambulance transport was reported necessary.

10:23 a.m. – Caller from Tilden Village on Pound Street requested the ambulance for himself. Ambulance was enroute to Natick.

10:50 a.m. – Officer reported was out on radar on North and Main Streets and issued a verbal warning.

12:04 p.m. – Officer reported he was flagged won by a resident on South Street who said she found two syringes with needles on her front lawn and a bottle. Syringes were brought to the Fire Department.

12:32 p.m. – Caller reported a white van with no plates had been parked on Loeffler Lane for several days. Vin check came back registered and insured.

12:34 p.m. – Medfield Fire Department reported it was enroute to Hale Place for a transport of a patient via ambulance to Natick.

1:50 p.m. – Caller reported he had a live wire in his driveway on Crest Circle. NSTAR notified.

2:02 p.m. – Caller requested the ambulance for an individual on Flint Locke Lane who may have been having a stroke. Millis notified for mutual aid. Ambulance was enroute to Norwood Hospital with patient.

2:12 p.m. – Caller requested the ambulance for herself at Cross Street. Westwood paramedics notified and ambulance transported patient to Natick.

4 p.m. – Caller reported a barking dog from a residence behind her house on Orchard and Whichita Roads near the Medfield/Norfolk line. Officer reported all was quite in the area of Whichita Road.

5:10 p.m. – Caller reported white van with no plates has been sitting on the side of the road near Loeffler Lane for three days. Officer reported van belongs to resident on Loeffler Lane and the owner will move it into the driveway.

7:04 p.m. – Officer was on radar patrol on Hartford Street and reported no citations.

9:40 p.m. – Caller reported kids in the area of the swim pond on Green Street fighting. Officer responded but reported kids were gone on arrival.

10:04 p.m. – 911 caller reported she would like an ambulance for her father who fell at Green Street. She would like him taken to Beth Israel in Needham. Ambulance was enroute with patient to B.I.D. Needham.

Friday, Sept. 2:

9:33 a.m. – Officer reported he was on radar on Oak Street and issued two citations.

12:19 p.m. – Resident on Ice House Road and West Mill Street reported a wire down in the roadway. Medfield Fire Department reported phone service down and moved wire off of roadway. Verizon was notified.

2:05 p.m. – Medfield Police received from Wrentham court a 209A for an individual on Pleasant Court and faxed to Norwood Police for service as the individual was currently at Norwood Hospital.

2:19 p.m. – Alarm company reported a hold up alarm at Needham Bank on Main Street. Officers notified. Bank called and reported no hold up. Manager will go out to speak to the officers.

2:44 p.m.  –Woman reported she is possibly having an allergic reaction to nuts at Wood End Lane. Ambulance reported no transport.

3:09 p.m. – Off-duty officer reported Precision Automotive just had a drive-off of $45 worth of gas. Officer ran plate number and left message for vehicle owner to call the station. At 9:25 p.m., officer spoke to vehicle owner, who said she paid $45 cash for her gasoline and the drive off wasn’t her.

3:14 p.m. – Motorist reported canoeists swimming in Kingsbury Pond on Spring Street. Looked like they fell out of their canoe. Officer and EMTs responded. Officer reported no problem. Girls just swimming.

6:30 p.m. – Woman came into the station to report she found a cell phone.

8:57 p.m. – Woman requested an ambulance for her husband on Bridge Street who had chest pains. Patient was transported to Norwood Hospital.

10:35 p.m.  –Caller reported she heard noises in front of her house and when she looked outside, it looked like her mailbox was knocked over. Man from Kettle Pond reported he was down at the Cape and there was a party at his house. There should be nobody at his house and he has nobody house sitting. Officer responded and reported the party had been shut down and he has names for the homeowner.

Saturday, Sept. 3:

7:49 a.m. – Medfield Fire requesting assist with traffic while they put up a Medfield Day banner across the road.

9:32 a.m. – Employee from Shaw’s requested an officer for a shoplifter. The subject is with the manager. Officers responded to Shaw’s and to spoke to the manager and the involved party. The 54-year-old individual from Pound Street was issued a summons for larceny over $250.

12:30 p.m. – Woman came into the station to report the crossing light at Dale Street was not working.

8:12 p.m. – Sergeant reported he was out on a motor vehicle stop on South Street by Medfield High School. Sergeant reported the operator had someone on the way to drive the car home to Walpole and the operator was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle without a license.

9 p.m. – Caller reported cars driving into the cemetery. Officer reported he was out with a vehicle in the cemetery. Officers responded to assist. Individual said he was in the cemetery looking for a missing party. At 9:04 p.m. officer reported locating the missing party and at 9:40 p.m. was transporting the two individuals to the station. Assured Collision was brought on scene to tow motor vehicle. Two individuals, a 43-year-old Walpole man and a 20-year-old Roslindale woman were each issued summons. The Walpole man was charged with procuring or allowing liquor to person under 21 years old. The 20-year-old woman was charged with under 21 possession of liquor.

10:26 p.m. – Caller reported a strange odor coming from across the street on Green Street, possibly someone doing work in the area. Officer reported a company sealcoating the Bullards parking lot. Advised that they would need to stop and have owner acquire a permit.

Sunday, Sept. 4:

1:01 a.m. – Officer reported lights are out on Main Street from Bridge Street to Millis. NSTAR notified.

1:20 a.m. – Man from Cedar Lane reported a chain saw being used. Officer notified and reported Lueders Tree is working for NSTAR and they are done working in Medfield for the night.

10:18 a.m. – Woman from Pine Street called from her cell phone to request the ambulance for herself. Woman was taking some vitamin pills and she thinks she is having a reaction to them. Ambulance was enroute to the hospital with the patient.

12:58 p.m. – Young girl called emergency 911 from Cottage Street to request an ambulance for a 47-year-old man having difficulty breathing. Desk officer notified Westwood paramedics, who were enroute to scene. Ambulance was enroute to Norwood Hospital with patient.

1:14 p.m. – Woman called from Ledgetree Road and Hillcrest Road to report a man going door-to-door hanging flyers on front doors of houses. Officer reported he checked the area with no luck.

4:04 p.m. – Woman called from her home on Main Street to request Animal Control to remove a raccoon that looks like it is still alive on Main Street in front of the cemetery. Officer checked on the raccoon and it was dead. At 4:17 p.m. the desk officer called Animal Control to remove the large raccoon from Main Street. Raccoon removed at 7 p.m.

5:34 p.m. – Woman from High Street came into the station and requested to speak with an officer. Woman would like to take out a 209A order on an individual on Washington Street in Dedham at this time. Officer was enroute to the station and spoke with woman. Woman also requested to speak to sergeant, who called and spoke with a judge. The 209A order was denied and the woman was told if she was still looking for the order to go to the Dedham District Court on Tuesday. Medfield Police will keep an extra eye on the area. Woman was told to call if she had any problems.

Monday, Sept. 5:

10:26 a.m. – Man called from Wildwood Drive to report a wire down on the side of the road. Officer looked at the wire and reported it was Verizon. Desk officer notified the utility.

3:05 p.m. – Caller reported some time last Tuesday, someone knocked down her mailbox on Causeway Street. She wanted it noted.

7:17 p.m. – Caller reported walk light at Dale Street and Route 27 not working.

8:12 p.m. – Caller from Wilkens Glen reported a problem with a driver. No damage to any motor vehicle. Erratic operation. Officers checking the area. Officer reported he spoke to the operator and driver was yelled at by some of the residents. He tried to leave without incident. Driver was not drinking.

8:46 p.m. – Second call from individual at Wilkens Glen came in to report vehicle had come back. Nothing happened and cruisers were notified.

Tuesday, Sept. 6:

6:59 a.m.  – Man called from his cell phone to request an officer. He was just in a minor motor vehicle crash on Main Street. Took place in front of Bank of America and there was no personal injury. Officer helped operators exchange paperwork.

10:42 a.m. – Woman from Arnold Drive came into the station and requested to speak with an officer about a case of fraud. Someone has her social security number and has opened an account with Fire Stores. Officer spoke with woman and will do a report.

10:51 a.m. – Nurse called from Dr. Abensohn’s office on Main Street to request the ambulance for a woman who was having chest pains. They would like her taken to the hospital. Ambulance was enroute to Norwood Hospital with patient.
