Medfield Police: Brittany Thompson, 17, Found Safe in Coventry, RI

17-year-old Brittany Thompson was located Thursday morning in Coventry, RI.

Medfield Police Chief Robert Meaney announced Thursday that Brittany Thompson has been found safe and unharmed in Coventry, RI.

Meaney said she was found with an individual from Missouri, but no charges are pending. He said he was not sure if it was the same individual shown on the video from the Medfield Town Library.

Coventry Police notified Medfield Police at about 7:30 Thursday morning that someone had seen them walking on a road in the town, the police chief said.

"She is safe. She is unharmed. She is OK," he said.

Thompson, 17, was reported missing late Monday afternoon by her mother, who had gone to the library to pick her up at 5 p.m., and discovered she wasn't there.

Thompson is a senior at Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School in Franklin. At 17, she is an adult by legal definition, but the police and her parents said they were concerned because her disappearance was out of character for her, and because she has developmental issues.

Her parents, Meaney said, were enroute to Coventry, RI, a suburb of Providence, to be reunited with their daughter. It was not clear what had transpired over the past few days, he said, and Rhode Island and Massachusetts police officials will follow up. But at this time, he said, no charges are expected.

Meaney thanked the media and the public for generating information.
