Medfield Man Charged for Allegedly Removing Tree from Kingsbury Club

According to Medfield Police logs, a 42-year-old Medfield resident was issued a court summons for larceny and malicious destruction of property charges after allegedly cutting down a tree on the Kingsbury Club's property on May 27.

A 42-year-old Medfield man from Curve Street was issued a court summons on May 27 on charges of larceny over $250 and malicious destruction of property over $250 after allegedly cutting down a tree and removing other landscape from the Kingsbury Club's property on Ice House Road. 

"[The incident] involved the cutting and removal of a 25-foot tree and other landscape items, which will have a value of greater than $250, which is part of the of criteria for a felony," said Medfield Chief of Police Robert E. Meaney Jr. "Taking the tree away is the other part."

Medfield Police did not release the man’s name because he was issued a court summons and not arrested, according to Meaney.

"No complaint [had] been considered or issued by the court," Meaney said. 

The incident was reported on Sunday, May 27 at 10:16 a.m. when a manager at the Kingsbury Club on 2 Ice House Rd. called Medfield Police to request an officer, according to police logs.

The manager reported a man cut down a tree on their property. Officer Larz Anderson responded to the scene and looked at the area, according to police logs. Meaney said it appeared the incident was intentional. 

"The act appears to be intentional since the tree was by the entrance to the facility," Meaney said.
