Medfield Man Arrested in Bank of America Parking Lot for OUI

Stephen Wiberg, 54, of 15 Plain St., Medfield was arrested and charged Sunday, July 10 for OUI-liquor and failure to use care and caution when backing after he backed into a police cruiser, according to police reports.

"The following arrest information was supplied by the Medfield  police department. It does not indicate a conviction."

A Medfield man was arrested after he was found passed out in his car in the parking lot of Bank of America on Main Street in Medfield and later backed into a police cruiser on Sunday, according to police reports. 

An individual came into the around 5:46 p.m. Sunday, July 10 to report Stephen Wiberg, 54, of 15 Plain St., Medfield, was passed out in "a small blue car" in the parking lot of on Main Street, according to police reports.

Medfield Police officer Robert Flaherty responded and found Wiberg in a 2007 blue Kia Rio. Flaherty reported  that Wiberg had also "backed into" a police cruiser on scene but could not see any damage.

"When officer Flaherty returned to his cruiser to run various checks on his laptop, Mr. Wiberg backed up a very short distance and bumped the cruiser," Medfield Chief of Police Robert Meaney Jr. said. "There was no damage to either vehicle."

At 6:09 p.m., Medfield Police reported Wiberg was under arrest and transported him to the station. Wiberg was charged wit OUI-liquor and "failure to use care and caution in backing," according to police reports. Bail Comm Tom Hoban arrived to the station at 8:02 p.m. and Wiberg's brother was in the station to give him a ride home. 

Assured Collision towing responded to the scene to tow Wiberg's vehicle and had the vehicle at 6:24 p.m.
