Medfield Man Arrested by Norwood PD for B&E, Assault

Daniel J. Haney, 37, of Medfield, was arrested on charges of breaking and entering, assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, threat to commit a crime, and armed robbery, on Feb. 20 with the help of Medfield Police.

Norwood police have charged a Medfield man with assault after he allegedly attacked a relative in their home.

The incident began the morning of Feb. 20 when Haney went to a family member's house accusing him of taking his property, Norwood Police spokesman Kevin Grasso said.

"It is alleged that Haney grabbed the victim by the neck. The defendant picked up a hammer that was near by, never striking the victim, and dropped it when another resident came into the room," Grasso said.

The owner of the home asked Haney to leave. Prior to leaving, Haney allegedly took money from the top of the victim's desk.

According to Medfield Police police logs, Haney is "a known heroin user" and his Massachusetts license is suspended."

He was arrested the evening of Monday, Feb. 20, with the assistance of Medfield Police.

"He was living on Pleasant Street in Medfield," Medfield Chief of Police Robert E. Meaney Jr. said. "Our involvement was to accompany Norwood Police to the address and assist in taking him into custody. He was arrested without incident and faces no charges in Medfield."
