Kids on Ice, Trees Down, Trapped on Cul-de-sac, Shaw's Medical Emergency

Here's a glance at Medfield's safety log from Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.

Thursday, Jan. 31 (heavy winds)

5:05 a.m., Pine Street. Caller reports a tree down across the road. Police reported an additional tree down in the area.

7:09 a.m.,  Main Street. Caller reported lights at Shaw's are blinking red and green for Route 109 traffic, causing problems.

8:21 a.m., High Street. Traffic enforcement at High Street and Homestead Drive. No citations issued.

9:56 a.m., Hopi Avenue. Tree down and residents cannot leave cul-de-sac.

10:22 a.m., Rustic Lane. Caller reported a tree down across driveways. 

2:29 p.m., station. Someone into station to pick up criminal records as requested.

Friday, Feb. 1

7:14 a.m., Dale Street and Bridge Street. Traffic enforcement. Police note average speed is 26-29mph.

7:57 a.m., High Street and Homestead Drive. Traffic enforcement. 

8:40 a.m., Hartford Street and Main Street. Westwood's Holden Funeral Home requested a funeral escort from Hartford Street and Main Street to St. Edward's Church at 9:40am, then from St. Edward's to Vine Lake Cemetery at 11am.

8:58 a.m., Main Street. E911 caller requested an ambulance for an 18-year-old with some breathing problems. Medfield Ambulance took patient to Norwood Hospital.

9:27 a.m., Causeway Street. Walk-in report of mischief on Jan. 31. Resident said that at 11 p.m. on Jan. 31, someone threw a stick at her front door. There has been a problem like this in the past. 

12:28 p.m., Spring Street. Caller said there are kids on the ice at Kingsbury Pond. Police spoke with "some older youths (maybe age 17) that are on the ice. They feel the ice is ok, they were advised that we cannot confirm the safety of the ice."

3:01 p.m., Main Street. Received an E911 call and hangup from Shaw's. No answer on call-back. Police responded to the store. At 3:04 p.m., Medfield Ambulance responded to Shaw's for a medical issue at the front desk. Patient was taken to Leonard Morse. 

3:40 p.m., station. Walk-in report who said there are kids walking on the ice at the Charles River off Main Street near the Millis town line. Police looked for the kids but they were gone on arrival. 

3:43 p.m., South Street by Westview Road. Caller reported an erratic driver in a 2007 Nissan Murano -- going down South Street toward Norfolk. The vehicle is now parked in front of Westview Road and she has walked into the house. Police spoke with the driver before she drove off again, no problem.
