How Much Crime Takes Place in Medfield?

According to new statistics were released by the FBI this week, property crimes and thefts were high last year.

Sixteen violent crimes were reported in Medfield last year, according to new statistics released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation this week. 

The 2012 number is up from the 2011 total of seven violent crimes.

The FBI's annual Uniform Crime Report includes information submitted by local law enforcement agencies. The information is compiled and released to the public in the fall of the year that follows the reported year. Violent crime, as defined by the report, includes murder and non-negligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault.

According to FBI statistics, in 2012 Medfield reported the following crimes. The 2011 figures are in parenthesis. 

  • Violent Crimes: 16 (up from 7 in 2011)
  • Forcible Rape: 2 (up from zero in 2011)
  • Robbery: 1 (same as 2011)
  • Aggravated Assault: 13 (up from 6 in 2011) 
  • Property Crimes: 69 (up from 57 in 2011) 
  • Burglary: 13 (down from 16 in 2011)
  • Larceny/Theft: 56 (up from 41 in 2011)
