Have There Been Any Other Break-Ins in Town?

Police say to hide your gold.

 

After a reported , it begged the question: Have there been any other break-ins lately? 

Patch called on Medfield Chief of Police Robert Meaney Jr. for more information.

Meaney said there have not been many break-ins as of late, however, there was a questionable call on the same day (May 10) to a hair salon on Green Street which reported damage to its front door. That could be related to the West Street break-in or could just be a broken window; that is under investigation.

But what Meaney also said is that neighboring Norfolk has had some trouble lately.

Norfolk has had several breaks where the individuals are looking for gold. They remove the gold from the house and melt it down in their vehicle so it cannot be identified as coming from any particular housebreak.

What can you do? Meaney said residents should, as a general rule, be sure your doors are locked and your valuables are stored somewhere other than the jewelry box on top of the bedroom dresser. .
