Dispose of Christmas Trees Properly

State fire marshal says trees have been involved in fires.

State Fire Marshal Stephen Coan today urged community members to dispose of their Christmas trees properly.

Christmas trees kept too long after the holiday have been involved in fires, including one at a Lunenberg condominium last Jan. 9, Coan said in a press release.

In Westborough, Venture Crew 100 will pick up residents' trees on Jan. 5 and Jan. 12.

Donations toward the group's programs and equipment should be left in a plastic bag attached to the tree, according to the website. Checks should be payable to "Venture Crew 100."

Also, the Worcester Recycling Center will accept Christmas trees until Jan. 6.

I think you have to be a Worcester resident to dispose your tree in Worcester . Locals in Westborough would prob go to the dump here for recycling trees...

Hi Westborough resident, The information I used came from here: http://search.earth911.com/location/Q1RTNVZbWlZC/?what=christmas+trees&where=Westborough%2C+MA&max_distance=25&country=UNITED+STATES&province=Massachusetts&city=Westborough&region=Worcester&postal_code=01581&latitude=42.2695216&longitude=-71.6161294&list_filter=all The site clearly states "Services are restricted to residents of Worcester County only." Best, MG
